Right now I just have the roush axle backs.

When I begin power mods I want aftermarket headers and a catless x pipe. To get the most power would I need to upgrade the axle back to a cat back to get a less restrictive mid pipe?

 

No unless your stang is going to be putting down some serious power, like 700+.
Also, just a warning about roush muffs and no cats; it will wake the dead and make a pregnant woman go into labor.

 

Thats no lie. Thats my set up. you also get drone at highway speed.

 

I personally don't like the drone and like my Rosh axle backs because of that. Are there any O/R X pipes that have less drone than another or would I expect the same results from any of them?

 

I researched exhaust quite a bit before buying. Disclaimer: my research was based on sound and not performance. I chose the Borla Stinger cat back. I have no other exhaust mods but this setup. Fantastic, crisp sound and no drone at any speed.

One more disclaimer: I have no idea how this could be affected with headers and/or cats removed. I live in CA and won't be doing either one of those modifications.

 

Great question, I have roush axlebacks too. I want headers and an o/r x-pipe as well. I am in no way helpful to this thread. I'll just sit over here now.
