Engine colors

Rainy afternoon, found half-used rattle-can of Krylon Fusion plastic paint in Pepper Red, nothing better to do ...
|
Not really diggin' the blue with the red, but I like the idea. The part you did looks good.
Edit: I meant to mention what S197 GT said as well...How well does the "Pepper Red" match your car? It looks like it has a little orange in it, but so do a lot of reds when seen in pictures. |
Hmmmmm...
Not sure what I think... It's not really a good combo of colors, at least not by the picture. The red is almost orange, and you just have a mess of colors going on in there. Looks like you taped it off well... I've already painted my coil covers and considered painting the engine cover as well, but held off. I think it would have looked great if the engine cover was the same blue as your coil covers. Just my opinion, and it doesn't mean crap really. I'm sure you like it. |
The red you did is nice but the blue just doesn't work for me.

I am with Mike on this... stay one bright color and then just do the rest black white or chrome.... My Candy Red.... http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...2/IMG_0518.jpg |

Does it have an STP sticker on it somewhere? :jester:
I think you need another can to get that blue out of there. But the red is nice. |
Richard Petty FTW!

I don't really care for the engine cover painted. It's a lot of material to cover. I do, however, like the coil covers done.
Chrissy's engine is growing on me too with the color matched strut bar. |
Pony Racer,
did you tape all the letters off ? in which order did you do it ? is that paint color-matched ? looks great !! I was thinking of this color combo.... blue on the engine cover where you have your white. blue coil covers/stock silver letters....wish I could photo shop... can't decide which Blue to go with.... |
I'd like it if it were a Super Man GT500 (GB/TR or RR stripes), or if you're a Cubs fan :D
|
Chrissy & Mike thumbs up, OP not so much.
|
Mike, please put up some details on how you did that amazing job on your engine. Looks incredible buddy.

Sorry guys, I paid someone else to paint it. A member on S197.com painted them for me. If you want his contact info, send me a PM. I have a feeling he has done quite a few sets  |

After seeing what others had done paint-wise to their engines, I decided to re-paint and color-match engine to body color, Race Red. No one had Dupli-Color rattlecans in that color (code: PQ) so I kinda guessed at the color, painted the OEM coil colors with it (the blue covers were blue plastic from the Boss catalogue) and thought it was close enough until I saw it under natural light. Did a re-paint with another tone, it's closer but not perfect. Seeing as there's about a half-dozen coats of paint on the injector cover now, I decided to quit.
Someone could make a killing selling these pastic parts molded in OEM solid (non-candy or pearlescent) colors. I'd be first in line for Race Red. Meantime, I'll sell the blue plastic coil covers to anyone who wants them for $50 plus shipping. |
Those are the OEM Boss coil covers, right? Not just a repainted set? If so, PM me, I am interested.
