Dyno gains

Alright had the 5.0 dyno'd on saturday. Did 1 pull for baseline and it came out to 365 hp. Then i slapped on a CAI, Bama tune 93 race and i already had roush axlebacks on the car. We did 3 more pulls and we got 380 hp out of it. Should i be happy with that or is that low for the mods i put on. It seems like bama website says 24-30 rwhp from cai and tune so im wondering where my extra 10 hp went to.

Ill post the dyno sheet tomorrow but it does look like the fuel is rich.

The car was a blast driving back home- between the sound of roush and the power difference it was heaven.

Also after you load a tune is there some magic that you have to do for all the sensors to recalibrate before you run another dyno pull? Is it possible that i didnt have any drive cycles on it to really get a good reading?

My car did 391/382 with Bama's 93 Race tune and a C&L CAI and 3.55 gears. Running the Livernois 93 Tune + C&L CAI + SW Catback (and 3.55 gears) it put down 394/386. Below is the graph of the Bama + C&L. Keep in mind all dyno numbers are going to vary - location, temps, humidity, the dyno itself, ect.

i would love to get 391 lol. bama is looking into my tune to see what they can do. I still think its a little low. i would think 20 hp would be on the low side.

Put a full exhaust on it and then you'll get some great numbers :)

here's a video if anyone wants to hear roush exhaust WOT.

i never did a tune/cai dyno pull, but tune / offroad xpipe = 398rwhp.

That gain is pretty low. Them #'s look like a tune alone increase. Most tuners are running the car a little rich because they are finding out there is no more power to be made by leaning it out so why push it. If they can not straighten it out talk to Justin at VMP and he can set you up with a great tune.

thanks red candy- i will do that.

crap i forgot my dyno sheet at home again- will try to post it tomorrow

I think you can get in the 400rwhp range with full exhaust and a little modification to the tune.

I still dont understand all of the bone stock freak cars that put down 390 + in stock trim.It seems your stock numbers are more inline to what a lot of others made.

I know there are generous dyno's and other factors but you should not see that big of a difference in cars regardless of octane or 6sp/AT

These cars respond well to exhaust mods and with highflow cats and Xpipe along with CAI and Blowby racing tune my car made 406rwhp/387rwtq

Well, you guys are definitely getting better dyno numbers than me....370HP with a CAI and 93 octane 'Race' Tune...it was 105 degrees in the dyno area so possibly this robbed me of some HP.

The Bama tunes are showing less power than most other tunes it seems. Try another tune and see what happens.

Yeah id like to try a jon lund tune or maybe a brenspeed one.

the bama 93 race tune seems very touchy for a daily driver. so i put it on the 87 street one and that one seems more smooth. i keep reading everyone elses reviews about tunes and havent decided exactly which one to go with.

Where is justin out of and what does he charge for a tune?

Is it worth getting a custom tune on a dyno or is email tunes fine?

I'm all over that as we speak...I just spoke with a guy at Steeda and they're sending me one of their tunes (I bought a Steeda intake with my tune from another source (NOT Bama BTW) so i thought i'd go straight to Steeda with the issue)...according to him, i should have seem better HP #s even in the high temperature environment.

He did ask me if my dyno guy (who has the dynojet dyno) had it 'loaded'...i didnt know to ask, so i didnt know. Apparently this impacts HP numbers.

BTW i called Steeda today at 3:30PM CT and just received my email tune at 3:50PM CT Today....fortunately for me they'd just processed a request for someone with the same processor code. How's that for good luck and good service!
