Difference Between 5.0 GT and Boss 302?

Ok, so I'm new to the Mustang in general so please bear with me. If I have a GT Premium with the Brembo break package, what is the difference between that and the Boss 302? Is it just the intake and possibly exhaust, or is there more?

Thanks!

By the sails of the Beagle, they're BRAKES; everybody out there listening, a break is something you take from work, BRAKES stop car.

Anyway, the B302 is vastly different. rotating assembly in the engine, intake, engine tuning, suspension, bracing, rear end (if you buy the Torsen). The brakes on the B302 are the same mechanically as the Brembos on our cars, I believe.

I liked the B302 alot but the price point was crazy and the road race ride quality on the bombed out roads around here made my go BBP on a '12 GT.

I was taking a break from work when I wrote the post so that's my excuse to typing break instead of brake....

Anyway, thanks. I was thinking there was something more than an intake and exhaust mod to get there. I just curious...

The ride on my Boss is perfectly fine, even on the back roads. On setting 5 yeah, its a bit rough, but on 1 its nice and smooth enough for me.

The differences are real..but the question is if the difference justifies the price. My 2011 300A car with Brembos stickered for $10k less than a no-option Boss....yes, that's $10,000 for a car that is very close in any performance measure except exclusivity...and many of the Boss goodies can be added to the GT later anyway.

I would have loved to get a Boss instead of course but there is nothng at all wrong a GT and it's an undeniably better performance bargain.

I'm envious of the Boss guys but I'm certan I made the right move for my budget.

Yeppers on the performance bargain of a Brembo, 3.73, '12 GT. You can't beat the hit for the money that costs. Plus, when I say bombed-out around here, I mean hills, driveways and speed humps that would hang up a car like the Boss everyday. the splitter wouldn't last a week. The Brembo car is already pushing it.

Other concerns I'd have are actually around the exclusivity piece. It's a car and I intend to drive it. I don't want the worry about a special car with a special paint job and special parts getting damaged, etc. There'll always be bits easily and quickly available for a Mustang GT. Won't have to order in that special Boss-only piece. I also wanted alot of comfort and convenience stuff I couldn't get on the Boss. There's a nice DIB '12 Boss up the road from my house and, I like looking at it but, that's it. I don't really feel inadequate when I drive by in my RC '12.

I did put the LS trans scoop on my car though, felt that was a worthwhile addition since Furd needed a do-over on assembly of my MT-82.

I had to make the Boss vs GT decision recently. The replies in this thread were helpful:

Good luck.

I agree....I have a 2012 GT/CS...10,000 miles automatic & love it.....nice ride for $25,000.

I found a 2013 Boss with 20,000 miles for $35,000.....my GT is a better daily driver....Boss is more of a track car like the Shelby GT350

I agree....between the price & our crappy roads...I also chose the GT....& downsized to 18inch wheels
the Boss is good for a track....not daily driving
