Did '13/'14 Roush cars have resonators?

I think the GT500s did not have resonators but I'm curious if the Roush cars did (not have) too?

I have GT500 axle backs now with resonators in place but I think I want it a little louder but not too obnoxious so I'm considering the Roush ABs. However the natural progression might be to delete the resonators 1st to see if that does the trick with the GT500s but i'm worried if I then went with the Roush ABs it might be too much without the resonators

Thoughts ?

I'm 99% sure they did, as the only exhaust mod was their axleback.

I'm like you with the GT500s. Love the tone, the burple on decel, and I want a little more volume. I think res delete is in my near future.

I'm not a fan of the Roush rasp. Hurts my ears. I think you should either stick with the GT500s and cut our the res, or switch to Roush and keep them. Roush is LOUD. The real question is which sound do you prefer?? Resonator delete just makes is a bit louder.

Yeah, like laser I am almost 100% that they still have the resonators. I remember looking at the dealer descriptions and Roush's website when I was mustang shopping. They list their dual chamber exhaust, but there is no mention of any other exhaust modifications. If you already like the sound of your GT500's I would say just go ahead and do the res delete. It will just amplify it a bit abd add some more pops and gurgles. If you did decide to go with roush eventually, you could always put them some back in.

I have the RTR package which came with the Ford Racing Axel backs and res deletes. Its great for an every day car. The Axel backs are a more tame/touring exhaust (i believe they are basically the same as the Borla S). The res deletes give it that perfect boost of volume and adds more gurgles and pops on decel.

RTRs are made by Magnaflow, but yes same deal. They're somewhere in between the Magnaflow Streets and Competitions.

So far I agree with what has been said. Yes the Roush cars have resonators. I have been warned that they should not be removed with the Roush axle back exhaust installed. It will make it drone badly.

I love my Roush dual chamber exhaust. Plenty loud. But I wanted more too. I added the Boss quad exhaust. It did not make it louder, but more like surround sound instead of just on the back end. Otherwise mine is stock to the axle backs. I get lots of compliments on the sound. They can hear me coming blocks away. Love it! But I have been told and have read on a few forums that you don't want to screw with anything else or it is unbearable. Worse that fingernails on a chalkboard.

I know two guys that have longtubes, catless with Roush axle backs. Their cars are so ridiculously loud it's just insane. I hate being around them. It doesn't even sound good to me, just LOUD. They sound like fricken NASCARs, which is kinda badass, but not on a full streetcar.

Only the 13-14's got the Magnaflow RTR AxelBacks. The 11's had the Ford Racing Ones. I know its not that relevant to the convo, but just an FYI lol

Thanks everyone! I'm not a huge fan a rasp but I feel the Roush ABs are a good compromise on that compared to others. Having said that I'm more a fan of the deeper sounds of the GT500s and/or Borlas. I just wish my GT500s were louder.

I'm thinking I'll try the res delete first but probably will have to go with over axle pipes as opposed to just cutting them out since that is harder to reverse I think should I end up not satisfied and eventually go without the Roush's.

Any suggestions on OA pipes? I seem to recall hearing of fitment issues with some of them.

Get a set of OEM GT500 OTA Pipes. They don't have resonators and they fit perfectly. Literally same pipes as stock minus resonators.

I run a set of OEM GT500 OTA pipes with single tip GT500 AB's on my 14 GT and IMO, it sounds perfect. I originally ran the Roush AB with resonators but it got too loud.

I would try resonator deletes on your car before changing the exhaust.

My gt non roush has the roush axle backs. Are the resonators part of the roush axle backs or the mid pipe?

If I have then cut out and stainless steel welded in place, will it make it louder without drone?

it will make louder, but it will have some drone. Depending on the person, you might not notice it.
