Aluminum steering wheel. Base has a plastic wheel that looks like poo

It has a different trim as well (like the front plate on the dash)

dont see my base GT missing anything.I'm not into gadgets and looks so the base GT was the perfect Mustang for me.

I've upgraded just about everything to my liking including a blower and full suspension and could not be happier

Base vs Premium

I have a base model and would not swap it for a premium. To me it is what the car is all about. No extras, just go fast stuff.

Base model is a blank canvas. Upgrade to the way you like it, that's why were here!

I know ther are people that love the base model but I just can't give up leather, I just love it
If you could order a base with nothing else but leather that would be just fine with me

The base GT is Ok but the premium is called premium for a reason. If I had to choose between base GT and waiting/saving then I would wait -- which is in fact what I did. Some people are happy with it but if you're going to buy a base and then sink a bunch of money in upgrading the interior then why bother? Replacing the head unit is a giant PITA and unless you are going to do the work to replace the stereo, seats, steering wheel, etc yourself then why do it? It'll end up costing a lot more.

Not knocking anyone who is happy with the base GT but i felt like I need to represent folks for whom the base is not enough. I'm perfectly happy with the premium 401a car and can focus all of my attention on performance mods if I choose as opposed to praying that Scosche someday releases their dash kit.

Leather is nice no doubt, that's what I had in my my Camaro SS. My base GT actually has more options than my 01 SS had with the exception of leather. I do wish that I had hid lights. The lighting at night is subpar on the 11/12 GT's.

it's actually pretty cheap to buy the base and do your own upgrades. Boss 302 steering wheel $143, leather interior $299. Installed myself. Basic garage tools and one Saturday. Radio upgrade is wholly different animal.

I may be old school, but IMO a Mustang is a muscle car and I could care less about all that luxury crap. If I wanted interior lights that change color, sync, navigation, shaker stero, etc.; I would have bought a BMW or some other fancy car. The only thing I would add to my base GT, is leather.

Where can I get a boss 302 wheel for $143? And leather for $299? Actually the stereo is not as big a deal as you may think with the metra double din faceplate kit (around $250) I'm saving up right now for the stereo for my base, gonna have cd DVD mp3 navi and tv all in one!
