275/35R19 front & 275/40R19 rear tires combined?

Do you think 275/35R19 front tires combined with 275/40R19 rear tires, riding on oem brembo wheels (19 X9), will be a good setup for performance and looks?

would want to know the same... btw sick username lol

GrabberBlue310 7/31/12 08:33 AM

you will probably not even notice the difference

Tony Alonso 7/31/12 12:57 PM

The tire and wheel set-up was matched to the suspension tuning for the Brembo package. What goal do you specifically have in mind regarding performance? Putting on those tires sizes seems to be a change that would be for appearance only.

I want to add a little to the tire conversation --

As Tony as made note; the only real benefit you would likely gain with an asymmetrical tire set up is visual appeal and the ability to say that the rears are larger than the front. If you are looking for a sign-off based on popular opinion it may turn out to be strictly a personal choice and that alone.

Tire tech and suspension tech are closely related in the sense that they are both responsible for "road feel" and actual suspension dynamics. Changing one will (if performance is your goal) necessitate compensating with another.

if you want to enhance the looks of the car i would say go for it, but if you want to get more performance out of your car, then a tire change alone will not yield substantial benefits.:salute:

Thanks for your comments Guys, question answered.:nice: The way that the car looks is important but most important is it handling performance.

Are you talking about the limits of adhesion around corners? Wet weather traction? Other things?

Do you road course or autocross your vehicle?

M3hunter 8/6/12 10:22 AM

Yes I will go with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 275/40R19 on my stock brembos. First I will try the rear one's and if I don't feel comfortable with them I will try all 4 tires. If I go staggered probably I will need a bigger rear antirollbar to reduce understeer.

My driving is spirited and planing to do some autocross on my Brembo on the near future. I used to autocross a different animal an '02 Porsche 911 Carrera with suspension modification. I sold that car and bought my '11 GT Brembo, after reading on MT what the '11 GT Brembo did to a car that cost the double: BMW M3. I don't have any regrets after the replacement of my 911, reliability was bad and parts very expensive. I'm very satisfied with my Mustang GT, bad thing that the BOSS was not around at that time when I bough it.:headbob:

i personally would run a 275/40R19, wouldn't change much, just give you more grip. wouldn't even throw the speedometer off that much. @ 120, you're actually doing like 123. Not much, besides, you can always fix that in the programming.

Nitto motivos people!

Nice ride, what do the side stripes say?

Good, thanks!!

I'm running a very goofy tire setup right now, and it feels way stickier than stock... I've got 275/40/19's up front and 285/35/19's in the back. It seems to hold the turn much better now, and I don't chirp in 4th anymore since the tires are larger and stickier in the back... They are michelin pilots btw

Which are your wheel sizes?. Please share some pictures to see how it looks? Any understeer or tramlining?

Stevedotmil 7/17/13 01:34 PM

I think he's on stock Brembo wheels because I didn't see anything listed in his signature. I too chose this car because of that MT comparison. I can live with a couple of tenths when I'm saving 30K stock for stock.
