Great lookin ride, enjoy and thanks for sharing!

Thanks. By the time these pictures had been taken the poor thing had already been rear-ended on the Beltway and repaired; that was a saga in itself. It takes a while to get parts for these.

Thanks. I've wanted a Mustang convertible since, oh, 1973 or so. It's more fun than I can say.

Thanks, everyone!

Back when we were in school my brother had a '67 Mustang convertible (I'd remembered it as a '68 until he corrected me recently). One of those classic Mustangs was what I wanted for a long time, but it wasn't happening - I managed to buy a 77 Mustang II as my first new car, which was serviceable but underwhelming. During the '80s and '90s I had an interest in the then-current models, but with a growing family the priorities were safety, cost, number of seats and room to stow lots of stuff (enter the Caravan...). When the first pictures of the new Mustang concept car came out in 2003 I got excited again, and fell in love with the S197s when they came on the market.

Finally...

Great Pics! I have a car on order. Will arrive 8/13/2012. Red Candy saddle interior. V6 premium convertible. I have decided to keep the 2006 GT Windveil Blue Steeda Clone. I have a need for speed! Congrats!

The saddle interior looks really fine in the pictures I've seen, and if I hadn't been buying off the lot I might have ordered it - though the stone is light enough to remind me of the white interior of my brother's '67, and I like it for that reason.

What color top you getting?

Getting black top, must with saddle int. I'm going to have white stripe painted over the top of the hood, trunk and down the back. Like on the Boss 302. Here are some pics.

Here is my 2006 Gt Steeda Clone

Very nice, the stone interior really looks good.

Both cars look great, frankie. What's the color on the Steeda clone - looks a little like "Brittany Blue" from the '60s.

EDIT: Oh, duh - "Windveil Blue," like it says in your sig.

Yeah, Blitz - I like the stone. It's odd, that the stone interior color is so different from the roof color.

You would thing that the top color would be the same as the interior color. The only thing I'm not keen on is that the interior is two colors. My 06 has one color.

DRB 7/22/12 07:36 PM

Yeah, mine has stone seats and door inserts, but all the plastic and carpet is charcoal grey. I kind of like the contrast, though.

I'd like to do something with the console - I looked at dash kits and ordered sample material, but they don't do it for me; ultimately they look like what they are, add-on attachments to the surface of the manufactured parts. I'm thinking of having the parts painted at a body shop to match the aluminum panels on the dash.

I like the way this came out:

Don't want interior parts to match the body, though, no matter how much I like red candy. LOL

fast frankie 7/23/12 07:12 AM

I had my window switch plates painted silver to match my door handles. I aldo bought some other pieces. If you do just enough, it will look like factory.

DRB 7/23/12 07:20 AM

Yeah, the idea is not to overdo it. Probably just the radio bezel, console cover and maybe the headlight switchplate on the dash. I've always liked the steel-finish console on my friend's SLK 230. It looks something like this:
