Despite a late charge by Audi, the French Lions will start 1-2-3-4 on Saturday; Risi Ferrari to start from rear of field after flunking tech.
Tomas Enge made history yet again, as the rapid Czech driver claimed the top spot in GT1, his sixth class pole in the last eight years. Enge’s 3:55.025 lap time set in the No. 52 Young Driver AMR Aston Martin DBR9 edged out the No. 70 Marc VDS Racing Team Ford GT of Bas Leinders, who improved to second on Thursday.

Matech Competition confirms drivers for Car 61 at Le Mans
Following a successful test for Natacha Gachnang in the Matech Ford GT3 at Zolder on Thursday, May 27th, and after receiving a satisfactory medical review, Matech Competition has confirmed Natacha's position to drive the Matech Ford GT1 no.61 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 12-13 June.
Natacha will be joined by Cyndie Allemann and Rahel Frey...the first 100% Swiss female driver line up in the 24 Hours of Le Mans history.
Although the team were forced to look at alternative drivers in case a replacement had to be found, Matech Competition are pleased to confirm the trio of women.

This year the GT1 grid will have eight car form five different manufacturers. No Nissan or Maserati this year at the Circuit de la Sarthe but we will see Ford, Aston Martin, Corvette, Saleen and Lamborghini.

Great to see those ford gt's at Circuit de la Sarthe and to see that they have had good pace throughout the week. Very close times with the Aston and they seem to be a ways ahead of the other gt1 cars, hopefully they'll have reliability over 24 hours and could be looking at a good result.
There's a lot of great pictures from Lemans at their site, including day and night shots of all of the cars.

Completely shocked that no GT-Rs or LF-As ended up on the grid this year, would have been fascinating to see if they'd last.
Fingers crossed for the Aston Prototypes and Ford GTs, honorable mention for Marco Andretti's Lola.

Still kind of "funny" how the turbo diesel engines seem to rule Le Mans. Maybe Chevy (take that, GM!
) can enter a Duramax V8-engined Corvette for laughs. Heck, there's a turbo diesel Mustang (drag car) out there already.

Man, Matech GTs came out strong, 60 car looked like it was running away with its class then got reamed up the butt by a prototype. No fault of their own.Humorously, though, a 10-year-old Saleen S7 now leads the class.
Meanwhile, Peugot is fading and the Audis look to be lining up another overall 1-2 or 1-2-3. I really wish Panoz still raced prototypes.

Another great race overall, in my opinion. Though it would have been much better if the #1 Lion hadn't had an engine failure right after getting back on the lead lap.
Tough luck for the Ford GTs and the the Flying Lizard Porsche Team.
So long to the GT1 class. Always thought they should have pulled the restrictions on GT1 cars and let them run all-out.

It’s fitting that the Saleen, in its final major international endurance race, goes out as a winner, just as it did a decade ago when it entered the world of GT racing.
While it wasn’t by far the most successful GT1 car in history, it was certainly a favorite for many sports car enthusiasts. And with the help of Larbre, the Saleen finally became a Le Mans winner.
