Is it woth it?

My GT500 should be here soon and i am still playing with the idea of sending the car to Vegas to get the supersnake package installed at shelby. But everytime i look at pics of the new SS i start noticing how tacky some of the stuff is like the side scoops and the way they used the normal hood pins vs their Shelby GT hood pins. Really the car will never be raced or see much road time (i have my 06 GT for that). Would i just be better off with leaving the GT500 the way it is and just change unseen things like the exhuast and suspension, or go for broke and get the SS. I mean i could do stuff like SHR louvers and maybe try to get the SS chin spoiler and hood, for sure i will get the SS wheels. I just can not justify paying an extra 30 grand for a new supercharger and some minor mods that i could do myself for less, but at the same time knowing i have a Super Snake makes me reconsider since it would be modded and documented. :banghead:

save the money do your own mods when you see fit.

codeman94 Sep 10, 2009 05:32 AM

yeah ... 30 g's is a lot of loot to buy stuff you dont really like

bpmurr Sep 10, 2009 07:03 AM

I would just do the performance stuff at a good shop. It's a fraction of the overall SS cost.

$30K OMG! God bless you!

RedCandy5.0 Sep 10, 2009 08:06 AM

Take the 30K and invest in something that will make you money. Buy a Classic that will appreciate. A few bolt ons and you have a car that is a monster to begin with. Do you really want to spend 30K on more plastic?

stangfoeva Sep 10, 2009 11:42 AM

Me personally I don't think the mods are worth $30k, but who knows how much an SS GT500 will be worth at barret Jackson 30 yrs from now...

Stock GT500 definitely looks better though...

RedDragon777 Sep 10, 2009 03:17 PM

I mean the more i think about it, the car already has shelbys name on it, how much more would the price go up. Its not like the SS really is a limited model like the KR. Even though they say they will only make a small amount of SS for 2010, they will still make way more than they made KRs.

Who knows if we'll have a Barret Jackson auction 30 years from now. That's a large bet to make with $30k.

People assumed the new Star Wars figures from the new trilogy would be worth a ton since the old ones are. They won't ever be worth ****.

The old Shelby's are expensive because they are rare, and the kids from the 60's are now grown up, have money, and want to relive their past. I am 34 and couldn't care less about them. I CAN see myself paying big coin for a nice 1991 5.0 30 years from now though. Generations differ.

I choose to do my own mods on my GT-500. I just do not see the Bang for the Buck going the Vegas Route.

last i remember it was like $500 per wheel or something outrageous like that...

GottaHaveIt Sep 10, 2009 05:45 PM

Do it your self like if I just bought my car as a GT and added stuff to make it GT/CS with all the nonfuntional cosmetic crap I'd have saved big time. If I did it my selff I would have had them funtional too . SAVE YOUR MONEY.

Don't waste your money.

RedDragon777 Sep 11, 2009 02:21 PM

Yeah i think i am just going to keep it all SVT and shelby, i do not see the anything on the SS that is worth $30K. And i dont think those emblems are worth that much.

GottaHaveIt Sep 11, 2009 02:32 PM

When I walked in to a show room here in town they had a Shelby KR the Shelby price was something like 56,000.00 and then a Shely Auto seperate sticker for like 42,000.00 to bring it around 97 0r 98,000.00 for the KR OUCH !

Flagstang Sep 11, 2009 02:42 PM
