A few problems since I purchased this car

I took a mini vacation to go visit my 1st grand child this past week. Mom and baby are doing great!! I had a blast...

1st Issue:
on the way up to South Carolina I started getting a rattle in my rear view mirror that by the time I got there I wanted to take a hammer and knock the **** thing off. i did some research but most that have fixed it have done so by having it replaced under warranty. Does anyone know what is causing the rattles and is there a fix besides the dealer?

2nd Issue:
i started noticing a noise I initially associated with possible tire noise. the tires are Continental Extreme that were put on new when I bought the car. The noise is consistent with speed as in when the car is moving it's making the noise. It has gotten louder the more its driven. It's worse in the 45 - 65 MPH range. Hard to tell exactly where the noise is coming from. I just pushed over 20k miles on the car. A local guy i met in SC told me he had to add friction modifier to the rear-end on his at about 15k miles for the same reason. Does this seem reasonable? I'm gonna take the car to GoodYear to have it checked to make sure no tire issues. Thoughts??

Oh, I have to post a pic of my new grand daughter!!

cute kind ugly earring. The mirror your talking about is the one on the wind shield correct?

Yes, the rearview mirror hanging off the windshield

Have the tires checked. It couldn't hurt to change the fluid in the rear end and the transmission.

Tires were given a clean bill of health today. Back to work and out of town for the next 2 weeks so changing the fluids will have to wait till I get back.

I've heard of a small amount of friction modifier being added, but that's been for a groaning noise when making tight turns at low speed, never heard of a problem with that when driving down the road though. Most people I've heard describe the low speed turn sound as a dying whale, lol.

Mine has it, but the only time I hear it is turning tight in a parking lot or something and its light. Probably not going to mess with it, Ford says its normal, and I'm afraid of adding more modifier, I'm afraid it might affect the clutches in there and not function correctly. :dunno:

Is there any vibration associated with the noise?

This is correct. Even then by careful with adding friction modifier.

This will not help the issue you are describing

No Vibration at all

So does this sound like rear gears? possible wheel bearing?
