Hi All,

I'm planning on getting a new Mustang this fall. I currently have an '05 GT as my daily driver & am looking to get something new. (I know there's a new *something* coming in '15, but I'm removing that from the equation until I learn more about it.)

I live in the midwest & experience the complete range of weather -- including snow, but my GT has handled everything just fine.

I had my heart set on ordering a '14 convertible GT, but I started to look on Ebay & noticed there were several Shelby convertibles in the 2010 - 2011 range. They had low miles & an attractive price tag.

Considering my new car will also be a daily driver, is there any reason not to consider a (slightly) used Shelby? Are they more finicky mechanically? Do they handle worse in the snow? Is normal maintenance significantly more expensive?

Any comments or experiences would be helpful.

Question 1. No, but you should lean toward an '11 major improvements went into the '11
Question 2. I've yet to have a problem with mine.
Question 3. Snow, don't know, but I don't see why they would.

Driving a Shelby in the snow ? I don't know if I would try it. Wide tires and big horsepower numbers do not make for a good drive in snow. To use a GT500 in snow , you would need snow tires and a lot of ballast in the trunk.

 

Agreed! Not to mention the tires (especially on svtpp) dont like anything below 40 degrees as said by ford.

 

A Mustang belongs in one place in the winter, in the GARAGE!

 

Have to agree with this. I budgeted for the Boss and a winter beater.

 

If you drive a GT500 in the snow, your just asking for it.
