2005-2009 Mustang Hood Corrosion problem

If any of you have noticed blistering (we have on our 2006 Mustang) on the edges or underside of your 05-09 Mustang aluminum hoods, this may be of interest to you, since apparently Ford knows of the issue, however they are not willing to repair it out of warranty. It can be an expensive repair, $500 or more to refinish a hood. The area has to be blasted clean, then treated, and finally painted to prevent it from coming back.

No problem! I mean, admitting I need paint on the hood isn't a really big deal, but you're welcome nonetheless.

Says it only covers '05 - '07 Mustangs

The TSB came out in '06 during the '07 year, so it will naturally not mention the '08+ models.

There are rumors that by '08, much like the window tint moleskin issue, they fixed the problem, which was allegedly chemicals seeping from the seams from one of the baths the hoods get, NOT iron contamination. In any case, the idea is that only '05-'07s will have this issue... and hopefully, that's right, for their sakes. :)

They also, on '08+, have a longer, 5 year warranty, so it may not show up on the radar as a problem for a bit yet anyway.

But even if they do, the TSB will likely apply, as they're the same model overall.
