Cool combo petroliana show & Mustang show

This was right up my alley. two of my favorite things combined into one. This event was held in Maggie Valley, NC.
I struck out on Ford cans although I did see some that were just too pricey for me.
Here are some photos. I did not register for the show as it was a 2 day event and it's just too hot. I didn't want to come back tomorrow. It's about an hour from my home.
A yellow 2016 parked next to me so I grabbed a photo. He was bragging about his low 25,000 miles and then I showed him my odometer at 11,300 miles.

I like the gold 70 and the powder blue 69, and the charcoal fox LX hatch next to the red super snake.

Been a while since I've been to Maggie Valley.

Very nice! Thanks for posting. Very pretty setting! Is all of NC that green?

These are my favorites... Like the 1968-1969-1970-1971/72 (likely a 72?) sitting together... Always like a S197 GT500s as well.

But I think that GHIG one would have been a great addition to the show!

^^^ shaneyusa Ha, thanks for the compliment.. As I'm writing this I'm still not in a 'heat' mood. Yesterday was enough.
Much of western NC is indeed this green. We are in the Appalachians and it is mostly quite rural with small towns. The other parts of the state have some beautiful areas too, especially near 'Mayberry' (Mt Airy) and of course the Outer Banks, but too many cities in this state as well from Raleigh to Charlotte. Not even close to us at 5 hours and 3 hours away respectively. Thank heavens!!

Are these normal temps for you area? I know your humidity much is higher than it is out here. So I am sure anything over 85° is miserable and sticky.

Just to poke the bear, take a look at these local forecast temps for the next few...

"But it's a dry heat", that's what everyone always says about our heat (As a joke). Humidity is usually very low and will be 15-20%. But it is still hot. When there is a breeze (Typically not much if any) it feels like you are being blown by a furnace.

Sunday will tie the record high for the date if it happens. We are typically in the mid 90s this time of year. Last summer we were 100°+ for 14 days in July, and had a record 27 days at 100°+ from June-Sept. I can handle our heat if we cool off over night and it does not stay there for several days in a row. The lows for Sunday and Monday are not what I consider cool. I do live in the desert after all as we likely will not see any significant rain until sometime in the middle/late September.

Hope it cools down for you. Looks like your over night lows are predicted to stay on what I would consider the warm side. Hang in there and stay cool.

WOW!!!! That is one huge all Mustang show... I would have loved to had been there to enjoy seeing them all up close and personal. From all the images posted, I only notice one non-Mustang which I believe was a classic F-150 pickup... Meanwhile, thanks for sharing.

shaneyusa the months of July and August are the most humid here and quite warm overall. That's saying something since I was raised and worked in Florida until retiring here 21 years ago. The nights and mornings are comfortable though and our a/c usually isn't needed until the afternoon when the sun starts beating down. Some summers the a/c rarely goes on, but that's unusual. The mountains here keep the temps about 10 degrees cooler than the cities.
Your temps in Idaho are looking crazy! I'm glad our May 'western states' vacation was pleasant before the heat kicked in.

Yes!, You made your trip at the right time. We did have a long wet and cool spring up here. The temps did not start getting hot until just around the 4th. I am just glad we are not AZ, but we do get some hot temps here in the high desert part of the west.

It is nice that we have the forested mountains near by and can escape the heat there if we need to. Usually cuts the temps by 10 to 15 degrees. Just not crazy about fighting all the others trying to do the same thing. Just getting to be too many people here in the Boise area, and our mountain roads are not able to handle the surge to escape.

We still have about 6 more weeks that we will be pushing the 100°+ temps. Don't mind those under 95° or so. But 105° and up is just too hot, even with our low humidity. But who's to complain, better than winter right???

Stay cool! Enjoy your summer.

^^^ shaneyusa I imagine you have the CA folks moving there which is unfortunate. This area has always had the FL folks with summer homes. My late father in law was one of those people back in the late 70's and we used to visit often. We knew we would move here one day. You see an almost equal number of FL plates here in the summer as NC plates. The population swells to over 100,000 in the summer in this rural western NC county but in the winter back to our 40,000 or so permanent county residents.

Yup you nailed it. Getting a huge influx of CA folks, plus WA, TX & AZ. The drove up the property values so high that most locals can no longer afford to buy a home. I have grown up here. Not happy with all the changes. It is mind blowing (and very sad) to see all the open spaces filled with houses (Most are just those big old ugly boxes). The place is loosing all that has kept me here. No longer a sleepy little place. Use to be when I told people I was from Boise, they had no idea where that was. That has all changed now. Since 2010 the local area population in the area has gone from around 450,000 to nearly 800,000. Our infrastructure has not kept pace with the development. Now there is construction everywhere.

No not all of CA is bad folks... I agree most coming in are good and decent people trying to escape the craziness of CA. But I don't like it when they feel that our place is a fantastic place to move to, but then want to change (destroy) it to be just like where they came from.

But actually it all fits right in with this good old Eagles Tune...

That's Cool, I Understand we Have Hollywood, L.A., Sacramento & San Francisco + a Few More in Which a Majority But Not All Residents Give The Whole State a Bad Rap. I Live Dead Center 4 Hours Either way From the Lunatic Fringe and Would Not Move to Any of Those Area's. Oh I Did Forget about Fresno an Hour Away! I Never Go There! I Guess Some Get Tired of Living in the Mess They Created! Go Figure!

Thanks For Updating. I Was Just Goofing Around with NC14 and Thought I Stepped on a Land Mine for a Hot Minute!
