Need Help ID part in engine

I have a 2005 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible. Wife started noticing gas fumes from the engine when the car is on. I notice the ripped cable. Can someone help identify this cable that i found torn and not connected to anything? Went to Ford dealer and they say they don't know what it is without know what its connected to. Thanks in Advance.

What part is this? What does it connect to? Cable was found ripped.

That took a little digging...

That is the knock sensor pigtail, and it appears someone ripped it out from under the intake manifold. The sensor itself is in the valley, on the block. With it ripped out, your car isn't knocking!...

...well, yes, it is, and that's bad thing. You need to replace that straight away before damage happens. Knock is not good.

Weird that happened...

Middle of page, #124, 'Connect KS electrical connector' KS = Knock Sensor. That's what's in the picture, and the wire is supposed to snake off under the intake to the knock sensor.

This is where it's located:

Right between the middle intake ports in the valley on the block, under the intake manifold. Which meaaans...

You're gonna have to do this. Get new gaskets for the 6 intake ports as shown. You do not need to take off the throttle body, unless you want to of course. I'd clean it while I was doin' all that, but that's just me.

The cool part is you don't have to do anything with the fuel rail. Just a couple hoses, connectors, bolts... Bob's your auntie, it's out! The GT you have to disconnect the fuel rail and take the injectors out. Well, you don't *have* to take the injectors out, but it's just a little easier if you do, IMO, still gotta take the fuel line off...
Hope that helps and good luck! And welcome to the forums!

YOU'RE MOST WELCOME! I'M GLAD I COULD HELP!

I'M NOT SURE WHY WE'RE SHOUTING, BUT HEY, LOUD NOISES AND FUNTIMES AND EXCITEMENT, I BET, EH?

Glad you're in good shape. That also was pretty quick, sounds like! The car will be much more happy with that thing working. Happy Motorin!
