So Kevin, if I'm understanding this correctly, if we move out of state (which is a very real possibility - hubby is looking for a new position that is out of state), then for any warranty issue, we will need to ship our car back to the dealership where we bought it at?

Mine was built in Oct 2005, I don't know of any horn problem. Is this something new?

After reading a couple of other threads about this topic, I looked closely at mine and yes I noticed a couple of small marks (resembling pitting) on the pony. I have had mine for 7 months now with 6900 miles on it.

Just took a look at my car. It will be 1 year old next month and the pony has the same "pits" around it as well.

Just took these pics. Mine does not look as bad as others I have seen but it is starting to pit. Also, look at the black in the last photo, very pitted. I have never used the horn or used any type of cleaners on it other than a wet paper towel.

I wish mine would pit. I think it adds character.

If I wasn't so PO'd about this, I'd roll on the floor laughing. Actually, I'm beginning to think my "Mustang" has determined it wants more destinction and so the mustang on the horn button now more resembles an Appaloosa.

Seriously though, I had to attend a wedding back in the area where I purchased my car from a year ago. So, Saturday morning I stopped in and showed them the problem. Funny how they immediately saw the problem and ordered me a new steering wheel. Now why oh why couldn't the dealer in the town I live in have done that? This is just another reason why I didn't order from the dealer in town. God knows I tried. I just got no response.

The problem that concerns me though is that if this horn button pitting problem is just now becoming apparent to a vast majority of us owners, how do I know that replacing it won't give me the same problem in 6-9 months?

what concerns me more is what problems will we have after the bumper to bumper warranty has run out. A lot of people will be stuck with things like this. Can you image how upsetting it would be if the dash started to warp 6 months after the warranty expires. That's a $1,500.00 repair.

Hi, I just had it changed by the dealer yesterday.

the pony will look spotted right>?

I took the car there, and they changed the whole steering wheel I think.
under warranty.
I told them the cas was too new to have that happened, less than 4 month old.

then, I asked them about the sound on thedifferential, and they will change it monday, also, I will ask them about the transmission sound, which I am not sure I have, but it really is a noisy transmission.

if I were you, I would ask them to change it, they wont like it because it is not just the plastic pony, because of the airbag, they have to change the whole thing.

good luck!
