Electrical issue (?) Car shuts off for a split second while driving!
 

Hi all, I am hoping you can help me! :o

I recently took apart my dash to swap out the panels, including the passenger side airbag. I followed the proper procedure for depowering the airbag, etc. Messed around behind the kick panel to remove the fuse, followed the sequence – the whole kit and kaboodle.

I had to order a new airbag cover from Clevenger Ford, so I’ve had to drive around with the airbag missing (just placed the cover in place within the dash). Ever since this project, one or two times during my 45 minute commute, the car will completely shut off for a split second!! It happens so quickly that everything is back to normal JUST as I see the cluster idiot lights flash for a second, feel the throttle drop, and hear the radio blank out. :dunno: It's happened at various speeds, while cruising, accelerating...doesn't seem to make a difference. In one instance, the vehicle stayed running but the Shaker 500 depowered itself completely - I'm talking clock resetting to 12:00, all presets were gone...everything. :mad:

I took the kick panel off and fiddled with any and all harnesses behind there, and nothing seems to be loose. Any ideas? Does it have anything to do with the removed fuse? I'm an idiot. :doh: I have no knowledge of my own vehicle’s electronics, so please tell me I did something basic and stupid that can be rectified easily :D

The car has 2,500 miles on it, and has no other mods besides JBA axlebacks.

hmm, thats weird never heard that before. i dont believe it would be a fuze, cause it should happen all the time if it was the fact of the fuze being out. but i dont know, thats interesting. did you resolve your concern?

and are you sure theres no other areas of the vehicle you touched?

let me know what you did to resolve this issure, im highly interested in the solution of this

Make sure the battery cables are tight, since it sounds like you had the battery unhooked.

When I reinstalled the airbags and set everything back to stock, the issue never reoccurred. I am guessing that master harness was loose, or a pin within the harness. :)
