After bodywork...trunk wont open!!!

Just got my 06 back from the shop. Went to put all my stuff back in the trunk and the **** thing wont open. Pretty sure they just forgot to put things back together but anyone know what to do?

go thru the backseat and pull the yellow safety handle, hopefully they just left the key/solenoid linkage unhooked...

Thanks for the reply! Ill try that.

Still cant figure this out. I cant seem to tell if its a fuse or a wire thats disconnected. Anyone?

Did you do through the back seat as suggested ? I had the same happen to me one time... And the connection for the auto lock was left unplugged.

if unplugged the key still didnt work? I thought key was still mechanical, would need parts left out?

So are you saying the yellow handle won't work either?

Then it's time to get a flashlight, and a 10mm(I think) socket and take the trunk mechanism off the car. Go get a new one from Ford, and put it back together. There's no alignment needed, stuff just bolts in.

Unless the car was hit in the back and that's your problem. Sounds like, in that case, you're taking that car back to the shop and letting THEM figure it out.

Yeah I can open it with the key and I went through the back seats, pulled the handle and it worked. Just the fob wont work. I think I will call them and have to take it back.

I'm sure its something simple

houtex 1/11/15 09:50 PM

If all that is working, then it's likely they missed the connector. It's pretty simple to get the cover off and inspect it. I've done it myself. No real different than changing out the 3rd brake light, really. I'd check that, it's kind of easy to maybe miss? It will be *very* obvious, though, that it's not connected and in 5 minutes you could be all done.

The only other possibility is that the solenoid/motor that's used is jacked and you need a new one. That's also happened to me, but it was stripped gears. Thing worked, just made a hell of a racket doing it. Similar to the vent motors in the A/C, really. Ford sells it only as a whole lock mechanism, though, but it's only two bolts, self aligning, and really easy to swap out. Just have to get one first.

Ill try this. I wasnt sure where the wiring/connection would be but if its near the 3rd brake light ill just get in there and horse around. Thanks a bunch!!!

I've had mine out to replace key lock with a camera , could be the switch , do you hear any click if it's in backward or not all the way in that will do it.
