Tire Help

I am getting ready to order new rear tires for the mustang. I am trying to figure out the max on my rims. The rears currently have 245/50R16. What is the biggest tire I can get on 16x7 rims?

I am having trouble finding anything around my price range. Or I just can't find the tires at all.

Go to http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...=9&RunFlat=All

They have some Sumitomo 245/50R16 for $68 each!

I could pretty much get 85-100 tires locally instead on those.

FYI,

I had some tires mounted and balanced at Bridges on Jordan Lane for $10.00 each. Big 10 wanted $40 each - so it pays to shop around.

Also, I entered 35805 for shipping, and it came out to $52 for 4 - $13 each. So that's $68 + 10 + 13 = $91. A lot less than what you're quoting.

Will tire shops even touch a car with wheel adapters on?

91 x 2 is 182.
Only about 20 off of what I put.

I did the prices for both wheels together.

What I really want to find is Bridgestone Potenzas. That is what is on the rears now. If I could get a pair of those for 180 I would buy them.

You could just bring them the wheels. Put the wheels on the car yourself with whatever adapters you need.

Well I have decided what I am getting. Sumitomo HTR Z
Only 68 a tire and they are the 1 of the cheapest. Everyone locally was trying to sell me Kumhos and the 1s they had I have read bad reviews on.

I was looking at the HTR+ because they are ultra high performance all season and the HTR Z is summer.

Oh yeah. On my way home from the meeting last night I slammed the rears into my fenders for the second time. They had torn the cross over to Blake Bottom off Research park or whatever they call it. So I went that at around 25 well then it goes back to asphalt and a good lip there, found that out when I hit it. Took a little bit more rubber off the side of the tires.

Jake, sounds like you might be close to me? I live off of Kelly Springs Road, just east of Hwy 53.

Anything more than 245/50 and you are lifting the tire patch.

Perhaps too late, but I ran Bridgestone Potenzas all the time. The Fuzion tires *are* those. I got them at Firestone for a good price for the whole deal. If you want to see/drive them, let me know.

We are ordering the Sumitomos once my dad gets home. I wanted Bridgestones, but they would have to special order them. I should get the Sumitomos Saturday.

Everywhere we checked it was over 200 dollars for the rears mounted and those were Kumhos. With these it ends up at around 190.
