describe the car as best as possible the good and the bad. Place at least 8 pictures in your add. List it so it ends between 6pm and 9pm on a week night not mon - thurs. Have more pictures available if needed.
This is a great ad - notice all the good, high res pictures. I don't think 8 is enough - more the better and make sure you take them of everything, lots of engine compartment, trunk, undercarriage helps. Make sure you point out any short comings upfront as you don't want people making plane trips just to find out you didn't tell them everything.

Also make sure you take the photos with the flash on - even in sunlight as it helps bring out detail in the shadows. And position your car so the sun is at your back - evening or morning are the best. Don't do it during the middle of the day as it washes out the color.
Also, make sure the car runs and drives! You're a whole lot more likely to sell a car by long distance if it's drivable than if it has to be winched on a trailer. Potential buyers want to be able to try out how the car steers, how the trans shifts, whether the engine smokes, if the rear end whines, etc., etc.

Lots of pictures and the best description you can write telling all aspects of the car. Start with your best pictures and describe the pros of the car at the beginning of the text, put the ugly reality farther down, and then repeat the best features followed by some more good pics. All during the auction you can post updates or more info up until the reserve is met. Don't post all replies to questions on the auction page, just those that really pertain to the item and aren't redundant. I've had over 300 succesful auctions selling cars and parts on Ebay and communication is the most important aspect of it! kennyg
As an example to show how using a flash and using the right time of day make a difference refer to these two pics:
1. Early afternoon , sun not in right position, no flash used - notice harsh shadows and dark colors

2. Taken in late afternoon (low sun), using flash with sun at my back. Notice how much better the color stands out and the soft shadows:

Ebay good-thing-to-remember: Be very careful of idiots and scammers. There is always a play on the old Nigerian scam. Usually, you'll get hits/q's from out of the country (England and Holland are popular) claiming to want your car and try and send you a Western Union check or some other foreign type of payment. Many people have been scammed by not letting monies clear first....stupid. Also, be ready for some of the dumbest questions you've ever heard, as well as bunches of side offers to stop the sale early. Lastly, I would never except bids from 0 or negative feedback people.
Just some advice.....
