I'm speechless really! STUIPD DEALERS!!! I guess they really don't want to make someone happy (by selling it AT MSRP), and have that person come back to them for repeat business?

If they jack it up that much, I doubt they'll have many buyers coming into the showrooms in the first place. Anyone willing to pay that should just buy fireworks instead - at least you'll have more fun blowing s**t up and watching your money go up in smoke. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Greedy (Ford) dealers, what are they thinking?

We'll have to patient..See what happens to the 07 GT500 prices when 08's come out and there are still 07's on the show room floors!...if 10.000 07 Shelby GT's are built like Shelby has contracted! ... these baby's will be stacked up at that price! there will be fire sales in 08... so hold tight!...Also remember when the new Camero comes out this will bite in to the retro Mustang market!...in 12 to 14 months there will be alot of great GT500's and Shelby GT's to had at fair prices!...

The prices that some are currently paying for these GT500s will be laughable in 07. How many Mustang enthusiasts can afford a car that will go out the door at nearly $50,000 when sold at the sticker price. The pool of potential buyers in this price range will evaporate rapidly forcing the retailers to abandon price gouging and slash prices as they have on every other hot new car that has ever come along.
Automotive MSRPs are an absolute joke and have been for a long time. This is why no one with any financial sense ever pays them.
2007 will see the market flooded with a raft of "Shelby" badged Mustangs. Shelby GTs, Shelby GT500s, Shelby rent-a cars, and others. The paint is getting spread too thin here. The Shelby name is being diluted to the point where it is likely to become meaningless if this continues.
This is not the 60s. These GT500s are not comparable to the handfull of the classic Shelbys that bring astronomical prices in pristine condition at the highline auctions. Do not confuse what was then and what is reality now.

I also agree about these cars unlikely becoming collectibles in the future. 40 years from now, a renewable energy renaissance will be in full swing, and musclecars of the past are likely not to be viewed nostalgically, but rather with a certain amount of disdain.

I think we're quite a bit away from the end of crazy ADMs that exist today.
