Spark plug change 2007 GT/CS
 

Hello All,
YES I finally have to change out the old Ford factory 2007 4.6 engine spark plugs ,,,after 7 years from new ,, I had a misfire on number #8 last week,, bad plug ,, check engine code PO O308 ,,, from code reader,, old plug didn't look to bad ,, with car having still only under 28000 miles on it now ,, this date , October 3rd, 2014 ,,,so I changed out the old #8 plug and it ran great ,, so I went ahead and changed out two more , #7 and #6 pistons plugs ,, yes only changed out three first in one day ,, I'm going slow with this ,so not to brake any in the removal on each plug from its alum hole in the engine head ,,
as if anyone has done this ,they can tell you the story as to why to take it slow in changing the Ford factory 4.6 plugs , " they can brake ,if you go to fast ",, in the removal ,,I went with the ( Autolite HT1 's ) ,,cost is around $12.00 each ,,yes not cheap ,, but they have the right heat range for my engine and tune ,, going to try and change out some more this weekend ,, wish me luck ,,

OK,, update ,, October 4th,2014 ,,


I changed out 3 more Ford factory spark plugs today on my 2007 GT/CS Mustang ,, on pistons #5 , #1 ,and #2 ,, plugs are out without braking ,,yay,,
driver side is done and only two more to go out of the 8 Ford factory spark plugs in the 4.6 L ,, 3V motor .
I had a time with #1 plug for some reason ,, a lot of build up on that one ,had to let it sit longer and soak with carb cleaner around it , and move slow right turn and then left turn to loosen up more before trying to remove it out of the head hole .
YES watch the videos posted above ,,they don't lie ,,this job takes time to do it right ,,with a good hands on feel as to what you are doing ,,knowing when to stop and walk away . ,,,,, Thanks for looking in ,,take care all .

Good for you - none broke!
I changed mine two years ago at 36,000 miles. No breakage but you're so right - go slow and let the stuff soak in and loosen the hold. I replaced using the one piece Champions and have not had any issues and it is soooo nice to know I don't have this problem hanging over my head.

I had several break but thats just my luck

Hey Glenn - did the removal tool work as it is supposed to for you?
I was worried that if any broke - I'd push the tip into the cylinder.

It's way over due but I had a misfire about 2 months ago on #4 pulled out coil pack & found water in the hole ? I never spray my engine so very odd , dries
D it all out & life was good . Then last week it started being funny again & by Friday I finally got a misfire on #8 water again, my son told me to pop out all the coil packs & add die electric grease on all bottoms. Then I noticed that since replacing my hood that maybe when it rained that the windshield squirted are right above 4 & 8 😳 So I'd put the liner back on & she's purring like a kitten again😍 Ps always always blow out or vaccine them holes before changing a plug & don't forget to add anti-seize to the threads so they don't back off. I used the 1 piece Champion plugs. Always change 85-to 99,000 klicks waiting too long your asking for trouble.
