2008 GT/CS - Bad Fuel Pump Driver Module

After 2 weeks, 300 miles...

I am on my way to work this morning, just about to get on the highway and all of a sudden I feel the car losing power. Am I in the wrong gear?...No. I am giving it gas but it will not accelerate. I pull over and the motor stalls while in neutral. WTF??? I try to start it again several times and it turns, but when I give it gas, the motor will not respond, it just shakes. I did this a couple times and the same results occur...shakes and feels like it is choking. I call roadside and the dealer. Long story short...service diagnosed it as a bad fuel pump driver module and will replace it tomorrow. Bad day.

Questions:
Could this be the beginning of a defect/recall on the 2008s?
Has anyone ever had or heard of this problem?
Could I have caused damage to the car that the dealer/service will not tell me about?

Welcoming all comments please.

Thanks

There was a TSB on 05/06 cars regarding fuel pumps. Different issue, but no "recall". The issue you had with running "lean" for a second or two isn't going to kill your motor or anything. It should all be fine when you get it back. Just keep checking for any TSBs on your 08 and Ford will address them. I've had 3 total TSBs performed on my car and all is good 22K miles later. :nice:

Sorry I am no help since I dont have mine yet, but please keep us updated on what Ford says.

Sucks that happened. I can only imagine that frustration.

My car hasn't arrived yet either... bah It shipped the start of this week. I figured it would have been here Thursday.

Update, back in the shop again today. This time there was a squeak coming from the rear passenger side. Service said it was coming from the breaks and fixed it.

So far no other problems to report.

One thing I will say, Ford does not build very good cars. How can you explain a Fuel Pump problem and a squeak in a car that is 3 weeks old?

if it makes you feel better,it's not just ford....we bought a 99 camry new,and inter wipers didn't work and after only a week the fuel pump went...however since then only routine stuff...

bought a 92 mazda b2200 pickup new...muffler seemed extra loud...apon service inspection, found it to be wrong muffler for that motor...replaced,and had truck for 15 years and all was good...

good luck with your mustang..fingers crossed it will now be good to go...

This morning the car wouldnt start. It turns strong, but will not start. I waited 10 min and then pressed the reset switch near the pedals and it started...back to service tomorrow.

Ford Quality = S**T

Hi my name is Ed I have an 07 gtcs had the same issue , changed fuel filter cleaned all fuel injected still Mada , I went and bought a fuel pump but could have just cleaned the sock or pick up . My son & I pulled out the fuel pump from under the drivers side back seat and the sock or pickup was completely covered in a gooey like cake batter. Dropped new one in and was good. I do recommend if you see silt in tank to flush it out & only do this when the fuel level is very low. Ed
