Hood Lettering

Hood Lettering
Well, I finally got around to installing the S-H-E-L-B-Y lettering yesterday.
After looking at it awhile, I don't know if I would have followed the hood contour as close as I did. The E and the L look to be at too much of an angle. I'll leave it alone for now. Maybe I'll get used to it.
What do you guys think?
The spacing between letters is 3".

To be totally honest, I would have left the lettering off. Just my opinion, but you asked. (Hey, I'd even take the snake out of the grille! ) But that's just me...I take the emblems off all my cars!

I am not a fan of making a car look as what it once was or what is not. That's what clones are for. The most desired and sought after classics are those as they were originally designed not as they were subsequently altered.
Do I like the '68 Shelby, its hood, and its letters on the above pic? Yes, because it's part of its design. Do I like what you have done to your car? Yes, and it's done in excellent taste but that doesn't mean those mods belong there.

I keep all the original parts so I can put them back to original if I choose.

Couple of questions - what hood latches/pins are those, and what hood is that. Did a hood for a customer of mine a couple of months ago - from The Race Car Factory. Hood looked a lot like that one (but didnt have the recess for the hood pins).
Let me know - am getting ready to do another GT500 for a customer.
Thanks

The hood is from Proglass (Avilla, In). Terry only made about 7 hoods with only 3 having the recess for the hood locks. I beleive he then sold his mold to The Race Car Factory. Terry likes to develop the hoods. He's not into mass producing them. I don't know if The Race Car Factory offers the recess for the hood locks or not. I would guess not because the twist locks have to be machined to fit and are quite labor intensive let alone the modification to the hood. The twist locks added about $600 to the cost of the hood.
The twist locks are actual 68 Shelby locks that I bought from NPD (National Parts Depot).

I think we all like to mod our cars to our own taste. My intent was not to clone a 68 Shelby. These cars are far and away much better than the 68's or any other early Shelby in all respects. I add mods to my cars that, in my opinion, make them better than original. I suspect that is the same reason you added the aftermarket mufflers to yours. Although the mufflers don't change the looks, some would argue that they don't belong there.
I keep all the original parts so I can put them back to original if I choose.

I like your car, it obvious you improved it, and you do a have a point on the axle back, although I doubt many '68 Shelby GT350 or GT500 are degraded because they lack the stock factory exhaust, tires, belts, or battery for that matter. The only way that is possible is if the car happens to be very low mileage.
My earlier point relates more to appearance mods such as a stock '67 or '68 Shelby GT500 vs. an Eleanor Shelby GT500 as an example. The Eleanor is likely a better all around car but it's not original.
