Question Your Average MPG on a V6?

I only have 130 miles and haven't pushed it at all yet. Just checked and my average mpg is at 16.3?!

What are you guys getting? I'm driving a V6 automatic.

Thanks!

Put a couple of thousand miles on it and track the economy, do it by manual calculation, miles traveled divided by gallons used instead of just reading the dash readout, then you will have a real idea of the mileage.

Agreed. My car was reading 16MPG when it was actually 20MPG.

+1. If you have a smartphone of any kind you should be able to find an app that will do this for you for free. Makes it a snap.

Yeah.
Do it a few times and match it against the computer each time.
Soon you will know just how much the computer is off by.
My 2007 computer gives me better gas mileage on the computer.
The 2006 is real close but reads a little worse than actual.
Remember also, all things are dependant on how accurate the odometer is and exactly how full, full is.

My display shows around 20 to 21 m.p.g. When i fill up and check it manually, i am getting 23 m.p.g. (almost all city and very short drives) Automatic trans with 3.31 rear gear ratio. My last car was a 158 h.p. 4 cylinder and it got 22 m.p.g. on the same roads and speeds. So i am very happy with my m.p.g.'s .

You need a phone app to be able to do simple math?

Be nice to the younger generation.
They grew up with calculators and computers.
Old men like me can total the bill at the grocery store as I put the stuff on the conveyor.
That way I can tell the cashier if they made any mistakes hitting those little keys.

What store do you go to where they punch any key besides the "Total" key?

Heck, anymore when I go to the store if you want to get checked out in less than half an hour you have to go through the self-checkout...

Yeah, I don't know what they teach kids in school nowadays, certainly isn't reading, writing and arithmetic any more, and for sure not spelling.

The fresh produce is still by weight and they need to key in the proper code.
Your point is well taken though.

I refuse to use employee reduction aisles.

How to feel good about themselves.
I had to learn that from my parents back in the day.
All schools taught was winning and losing.

It isn't just the younger generation. I asked my MIL last night what kind of milage her Escape got. She has had it for close to two years. SHe said she didn't know because she never checked it. Said it was too much trouble to do and she was going to drive it anyway so why bother.

I, on the other hand, check EVERY tank I put through every vehicle I drive. I also know with in $5 or so how much the 100 item grocery tab is going to be. I have been accused of being a savant!

Welcome to 2011.

No, I do not need a phone app to do simple math. I also don't want to carry around a notebook, receipts, a mileage log, etc etc etc. Why would I when I can plug 3 numbers into my phone and at a glance see my MPG, the cost of gas at any fill up, the mileage I've put on the car, etc. Sure I can do the math but in this case why would I?

Do you use keyless entry or do you put the key in the door and unlock it just because you're completely capable of unlocking the door without it?
