What not to do

The driver chose to put himself in those circumstances. That wasn't a mistake. It was a choice.

Also you'll have to define "fun" that isn't stupid? Frankly, I can only read that as going to a track of some sort. This isn't a dig against you since I'm just as guilty as anybody here when it comes to having a little "fun" (well some of you guys would probably say I've crossed the fun line and drove right into insanity - but I'm still in one piece almost there years after getting my car)

Bad things can happen to anybody (caveat: I think it was silly to cut off the traction control, but there are more than a few manly men who do so here and elsewhere) given the right circumstances. This crash just seems like a rookie mistake, especially if the driver has never driven a Mustang with a hella-lotta-power
I'm astounded that ANYBODY would try to call it something else, and give the guy a pass. Just because the guy has a Mustang doesn't mean he's entitled to drive like an asshat.

To bad the car had to be sold to this guy. TC wouldn't of saved him. So lets drop the whole TC thing. To bad it was a nice black GT. A Honda accord or a sixxer wouldn't of got so squirrelly and it might of only been a small bump.

These Mustangs, Camaro's, and Challangers are allowing the 60's and early 70's to be re-lived all over again. I can recall walking around the boneyards in the early 70's, and seeing rows and rows of totaled Superbees, Mustangs, and Camaros. I just hope the insurance companies don't force these new hp cars out of the market once again due to those that can't drive them.

What gives you that impression? 80mph is 80mph regardless of what motor the car has in it. In the hands of the same inept driver, the car would still end up being parked a little to close to that tree.

Wow that car is absolutely ****ed.
While I agree that the kid(do we even know for sure it's a kid?) shouldn't have turned traction control off and obviously shouldn't have pushed a car like this with only having it for 8 hours, would we really be that shocked by it if he did do 82 spun out and just slid into some grass and missed the only tree in the area? I think you guys are getting some sensationalism out of him wrapping it around the tree.

REMEMBER when the original Viper RT10 came out. They were considered almost undrivable with 400 hp (460# tq if I recall). Everyday some genius would spin out and hit a tree, ice cream truck, nun or worse yet a nun in a tree eating ice cream. I hate it when that happens.
Dumb **** move! That said we (could it just be me??)have all goosed the throttle a bit much coming around at least one corner in our lives. True this was extreme and extremely stupid. However, I'm going to pull a guess out of my orifice that he was mad with 5.0 power and give him the benefit of the doubt that this was an aberration and not part of his normal driving practices.
I'm glad no one was hurt and I'll assume his rapidly escalating insurance premiums will put him solidly in a Sonata from now on. Therefore hopefully we won't have to worry about this level of exuberance in the future.
But, then again I might be wrong ( I know this because I'm married and thus, wrong most all of the time.)
