VIDEO: Can an S197 keep up with an M3?

Yup. You bet. All day long. That's why I love this car.

Here is a little video chronicle of keeping up with an M3 at one of my local tacks, Gingerman raceway.

He should have given me the point-by 2 or 3 times, but he didn't. So I was all over his a$$. :heh: I was a little disappointed with no pint by, particularly since the driver of this Beemer was an instructor with CGI motorsports

Enjoy!

Thanks, I enjoyed the ride.

Nice! I'm actually not too surprised though. Ford targeted the M3 when it designed the Boss a few years ago. They said if it couldn't beat an M3, it wasn't worth building. Magazine report showed that the Boss did indeed out perform the M3, and also showed that a GT could match the M3 performance.

I've had similar experiences with no point bys. Worst offender was a c4 corvette that ran in the instructor group and had no clue how to drive the line at Limerock so was super slow in corners then nailed it on every straight refusing to let anyone by. He had big power so would literally try to drag race down the straights if someone went to pass without a point. I got by with a fast exit s couple laps in. He was ejected from the event and I've never seen the car again

Anyways nice driving!!

Thanks guys!

I forgot to adjust the shock stiffness in the first session so I was full soft, and the car felt a lot more floaty with a lot more noticeable body roll. Than I dialed up the stiffness of the Koni's to 1/2 rear and 3/4 front. That was the sweet spot, and the car felt a lot more hooked up.

I swear, proper damping makes a HUGE difference with the Mustang chassis.

I went pretty hard all afternoon, and used up almost all of my rear lining, and got the tires to start chunking. So worth it though. :heh:

Thanks!

Funny thing is that since this is one of my home tracks I can still point out a lot of mistakes I've made. This is why seat time and practice are paramount.

So I changed out my pads last night. In the nick of time too. Here is what one of my rears looked like. Almost rubbing the spring washer on the rotor.

^ so awesome. Mine must still look like they're new. LOL. That's a sad thing, because that means I don't "use" my car... lol

These pads lasted 6 days (spread over 2 seasons). Pads and tires are now part of my annual budget. :heh:
