RTR VS AMR wheels

Hello everyone,

I am in the market for new wheels. I have been looking for awhile and decided on charcoal 19in.
Now AM has sale on AMR AND RTR wheels. IS there any difference between them? from the pic on there website looks like RTR are "deeper" and kind of smoother??

RTR:

AMR:

Thanks

I am sure the AMR wheels are strong enough for the street, I would think though the RTR's might be stronger and lighter, but I have no proof of that.

I think they are pretty much weight that same. I am just wondering if they look identical or if there is a difference.
Tight now RTR are about $500 more then AMR

I went with the RTR's but mostly because late model restoration had a great deal on them ($700 shipped). A.M. has a good deal on the AMRs but I just thought the RTRs looked better and seemed to have a better finished plus they were in the size I wanted 19x9.5 as I also don't want a staggered set-up but I want the wheels and tires to fill out nicely. I just got them delivered and I can post a pic if you want. No on the car yet tho.

Speaking of LMR, OP you could look at the SVE Drifts also.

The RTRs come in the size I wanted and I like them so far. I think I will like them even more when I get them on the stang. The AMR wheels only come in 19x8.5 ( not wide enough for me) and 19x10 (wider than I wanted to go in the front). imo its all about what works best for you. If you are going strictly off looks then they will be about the same and I havent seen or heard of any quality issues with either. I got a new set of Michelin Pilot sport 3 A/S to go with them for $800 on Black friday. So I'm pretty happy with everything so far considering I only paid $1500 for everything. Here is a pic below. Also I went with 275/40 on the tires.

You should have a look at the Avant Garde M310, offset is perfect and available in 18", 19" and 20". In 8.5" and 9.5 wide.

As far as quality and strength equivalent or better than RTR and lightyear in front of AMR's

Umm...i'm not convinced of that. I was comparing these for a while (decided to stay stock for $ reasons...and i dig the BBP wheels ;) )...

It really looks to me that the RTR wheels have a lighter color and a deeper "dish" which makes them look significantly better.

Then again, it could just be the particular photos that. I came across.

They are one in the same. Go look at the photos posted in this thread, they are identical. That is what I heard from CDC.

The color may be different because I haven't seen both at the same time in person but I think it is.

Look at the pics in the first post... The spokes on the AMR wheels look as if they're flush with the rim where the RTRs look more concave....are those wheels showing different offsets of the same design?

Dineau 12/8/13 04:53 PM

I have own a set of all these wheels (RTR, AMR and AG) and from my personal experience AG and RTR may be manufactured by the same company but they are different.

The AG have a different offset and the paint finish is also different, the AG are more of a satin finish where RTR are more mat.

Here's a quick compare on the 3 in 19" version (AG have 18", 19" or 20")
Avant Garde M310
19" x 8.5" (35mm offset)
19" x 9.5" (40mm offset)

RTR Wheels
19" x 9.5" (33mm offset)

AMR Wheels
19" x 8.5". (30mm offset)
19" x 9.5". (48mm offset)

Just for info when I had the RTR the wheels were a bit outside the fender, the AMR were a bit too much inside and I had to add spacers for a flush fit and the AG are perfects

You are correct on the offsets, I forgot to mention that RTR bought the right to only be able to sell that offset in their wheels.

Ajcruz1 12/8/13 07:02 PM

They all fit over Brembo brakes which was one of the selling points for me. I've had my Brembos sitting in the Garage for months now waiting to be put on.

You're giving out bad information right now, I'm a direct vendor for CDC. These are not made by the same company. VMR make the RTR wheels for CDC, so whoever told you this information from CDC was mistaken. I'm also a direct dealer for Avant Garde and have personally ran the M310's as well as tracked the piss out of them... they're great quality and the color on them are nicer in my opinion.
