camaro is faster in the 1/4 now.
I guess variation between cars, conditions and drivers and swapping back and forth over who wins is to be expected since these cars are pretty comparable in that measure.

check out the V6 comparo as well. Those V6s are beasts on a road course..

Had comfort package and glass roof.. I think the glass roof adds a tad more weight. I could be wrong.:dunno:

i seriously wanna see how them race a maro and a gt with 3.31's im starting to think 3.73 are too much gear, the 3.31 i test drove pulled as hard if not harder than my 95 with 3.73's

Was that from the torque of the new Coyote?

3Mach1 7/1/10 11:08 PM

They said the V6 Stang spent 8 seconds on the speed limiter and still creamed the Camaro. I would like to see what it would do with the limiter removed. That is impressive.

The SS and GT are very very close all the way around but the Mustang rules the V6 wars.

Surprising the V6 Performance Pkg doesn't delete the speed limited. Shame...:shame:

That comparison test has been around for a while, and is one of the few that have the SS a bit faster than the GT. I think when all the data shakes out, you'll find that the average bone stock M6 GT is a tenth or two quicker than the average bone stock M6 SS. Still EASILY within the range of being a driver's race. Bigger difference between A6s, given that the SS has the 400 HP L99 vs the 426 HP LS3.

I dont have any magazines, videos or test numbers to prove, but I went up against a m6 camaro with my A6 stang and won.:stirpot:

it was an 1/8th mile they tested the cars at..

They're both very capable cars. We can argue about one being a little better on a skidpad, or a drag strip, or a winding road, but the bottom line is they're both very serious high-performance cars. And most people don't choose their car based on a couple tenths of a seconds anyway. I prefer the Mustang for a variety of reasons (styling, Sync & Nav, the whole interior) but I sure wouldn't criticize someone for choosing the Camaro.

Don't count on it. Speed limiters, like back seats on a Porsche, are an insurance deal. Which do you think would cost more to insure, a car that can only go 145mph, or a car that can go 190mph? I say "only" like it's slow, but the point remains that while 145 on public roads is ludicrous, 190 on public roads is rip-your-own-arm-off-just-to-see-what-it-feels-like insane. So no, the speed limiter isn't going anywhere, on either the V6 or the V8. But that's what SCT is for.

Just saying.

They have to be blitzing the tires on the Mustang for it to lose a 1/8th mile drag race to the cumaro.

Such a disadvantage to be drag racing the cars on the stock tires, way to easy to get spin on launch.

And the cumaro actually puts more rubber on the ground with the 20's, they are taller overall diameter than the 19's on the Mustang so that and the softer suspension would make it launch better.
