The return of street legal Boss 302?
New updates:
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/14/f...-boss-mustang/
Is it time for the Boss to come back to the Mustang stable? According to the Pony-obsessed crew over at Mustang Heaven it is. The site reports that with the return of the mighty 5.0-liter V8, Ford is seriously considering bringing the hi-po Boss 302 version back to the streets. And what evidence do they have to bank on? Evidently, Mark Fields, the president of the Americas for FoMoCo, dropped a pretty big hint at this year's 2010 Ford Dealer Show.
Fields was speaking about the special-edition Mustangs in the company's recent past, including the Bullit, Mach 1 and C/S, and said that while he couldn't tell the crowd what was coming down the pike, he could give everyone a small hint. Supposedly a 1970 Boss 302 purred across the stage behind him as he finished speaking.

The owner at my dealer told me about this last Saturday. He said car went by pretty quickly behind Mark, and was curious if I knew what it meant. He also thought it was a '68, so I had no clue what it would have been. This makes more sence, thanks !!

Their is rampant speculation that the 536 bhp Supercharged variant of the Coyote from the Falcon GTHO will make an appearance in some kind of Mustang for the 2012 Model Year.
Ford engineers have let it be known that the 550 bhp GT500 has more where that came from when the Camaro Z28 hits the street with its variant of the 556 bhp Supercharged 6.2L CTS-V Engine.
Then their is the 600+ BHP 5.0L "Roadrunner" that Ford still denies is headed for the GT500. I hope that means its headed for the "modern" Cobra that was put on the back burner when the economy came off the rails.
We could have the zenith of the Modern Muscle Car Era in 2012 with a Base (305), GT (412), Boss 302 (536), GT500 (600) and Cobra (650). Especially if that Cobra comes in lighter than a ZR1.
Of course thats all just idle speculation.

Humor me a little...pretend it's the summer of '98 and I just told you that in four years you'll be able to buy a factory supercharged 400-ish hp. Cobra and run mid 12's with it, bone stock. Would you believe me?
Never say never, because anything is possible.

"640k ought to be enough for anybody." -- Bill Gates (OK, he denies ever saying it.)
Everything is relative. And temporary.
