Prototype build and installed pictures 3" Dynomax exhaust (PICTURES)

These photos are from The Dynomax prototype fabrication center here in MI.
They took my stock exhaust off the car and used a device called a Romer to create CAD data off of an existing part in order to create a 3" system that would have no clearance issues in the VERY tight area near the rear axle. The new CAD data is then sent to the fab shop where a tech uses those prints to create a prototype and thats what this photo series depicts.

here is a image of a romer for reference (image from google)

I dont have a sound clip yet, but its LOUD (like wake the dead loud). This is their Race Bullet setup. 3" mid-pipes and into a 3" axle back.

DISCLAIMER: their race bullet system is advertised as the loudest they make
and they tell you up front it will drone, if you want a non-drone system order their oval body mufflers.

Pricing is coming soon and they should be available around the start of 2011 as they are now ramping up for a production run off the templates created on this build

Nice, I want to upgrade the exhaust on my car to 3" I wonder how many bits pieces I could use from this (I'm guessing right up to the bumper cover) and I've always liked the bullet mufflers as well.

they already make this kit for your car:

Romer? Back in my day we used SolidWorks :jester:

Is there no x-pipe in this system?

I had the race bullits on my old 5.0 Zephyr and I loved them.

Drone? Oh yeah, but you could here the car coming down the road from a long ways away.

I did have a x-pipe in my system though and I think that helped make the system sound better, less ragged.

an X pipe is in the works and hopefully will launch at the same time but its not ready as of right now

Looks great Shaun. Now we need a video!

The "Romer" translates the real-time measurements into mathematical data that can then be uploaded into a high-end 3D modeling software, ie, Pro/E, Catia, IDEAS, etc. The design engineer then just has to create the 2D print because the model is already created for them. It kinda takes the fun out of making a part, test fitting it, modifying it, fitting it again, making a new part, test fitting it, modifying it...... :jester:

Sweet, I hadn't researched it to much, thanks for the link! - lookslike the kit is aft of the factory cross-over, but thats an easy fix.

quick question.....with your car on the ground with it being lowered is there plenty of clearance over the rear axle so the pipes arent hitting the axle? i only as because my magnaflow 3incher is hitting my axle. Evolution Perf has come to the conclusion that there is a prob with my kit and are supposed to fix it with a new kit on thursday when i have long tubes n x-pipe installed. I was just curious with your car how it is. thanks in advance.

Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing the pics. Those tips are really nice!

So its like a really sophisticated 3D scanner then? That's really cool tech. You're right it does kind of take the fun out of doing CAD design, sending to fab, test fitting, rinse/repeat. But it probably makes life a lot easier for machining whiz's who can fab a part just by eyeballing cuz then they can scan it and hand it over to and engineer to mass produce

It's especially helpful in an industry where, "we need this tomorrow" is the norm. :)

The other slick deal about it is that you can take a hand made part and copy the exact design into your CNC and reproduce it easily.

They remind me of SLP's Loudmouth doublewall tips. I wonder if Dynomax supplies them?

Looks killer.

I bet is sounds like an elephant raping an ape. :metal:
