Programming a Flip Key
I purchased a flip key today. I got the key cut. The instructions for programming this unit have two parts, one for the key programming and one for the RKE programming. This is how I programmed by PAT keys and RKE FOB for my 2005 F150 and 2006 Escape. The 2010 Ford owners manual only states one programming method is needed for the one piece key/FOB. Using the 2010 owners manual method I got the key programmed and it starts the car, but the RKE portion of the flip key does not work. I tried the older method to program the RKE after the Ford owners manual method did not work, but the RKE still does not work. In the older your method, you turn the ignition from off to on 8 times and then press one the the RKE FOB buttons, the doors will lock after the 8th turn of the key. On my 2010 Mustang the doors did not lock. The locking of the doors is the indication that the car is in the programming mode. Is there another way to program the RKE?
