piston oilers

I know when the 5.0 was designed the piston oilers were supposed to be a great asset to this engine. Yet, I discovered they had been discontinued after they were used in the 2011-12 production years. Anyone know why they were taken off the newer engines? I thought it might be related to oil consumption. Thanks.

I remember reading that they got removed for additional power gain, and the pistons got a different coating to no longer require oilers starting in '13. Just what I read though, so it may not be 100% accurate.
