Opinions on options 2012 Gt
A friend of mine is planning to order a new GT. He wants a fairly basic car, (std trans, cloth interior) but is considering the big brake upgrade, as well as 3.73 gears.
Is the suspention stiffer with the brake package? If so, how much stiffer is it than the stock GT suspension?
What are your thoughts on the 3.73 gears?
Are there any other options he "must" have?
Thanks.
Kevin

You will get a lot of opinions on the Brembo package. I chose it and have no regrets. It depends if he plans to change wheels and suspension parts or not. If he's going to be changing that stuff I thinks his money could be better spent. It is a noticeable difference in ride if you drive both cars.
I've got 3.73's in mine and like them. If I did a lot of hi-way driving I'd probably prefer 3.55's

I got the 3.73's and really liked them.
I did not want the Brembo pkg because from what I have seen ppl like to change up their suspension anyhow....so unless your getting it only for the brakes/wheels it's pointless.
As for the Brakes....I think the GT500 brembo's look TONS better. The BBP ones are an ugly flat grey IMHO, it looks unfinished.
Wheels: A lot of ppl with the BBP wheels are looking into getting them widened from weld Racing cause they are a tad too skinny for wider tires than a 255.
Just my $.02.....Tell your buddy to save the money on the BBP!!
That being said I truly regret NOT getting the GT/CS.

I got the 3.73s and BBP, love them both! I think the car rides nice, much better than my 06. Love the acceleration with the gears and these brakes are incredible. And the wheels look great too. I would do it again.

It all depends on what he will do to the car. Seems like he wants either to do all the mods himself or just want a basic GT to get around in. In either case, buy only the options that are cost effective and/or a PITA to do yourself.

If your friend is set on cloth interior, that means a GT non-Premium, and so those are about the only options he can get anyway (Brembo brake package, 3.73).
To get any other options (Sync, HID headlights, Nav, etc) he will have to Pony up for the "Premium" package, and with that comes mandatory leather. I imagine the cows hate it. I would like for there to be a cloth upholstery option with the premium package.

Thanks for all of the info guys. The car will not be tracked, so there will not be any / many aftermarketr mods. Mainly driven as a pleasure vehicle. I'll forward this link to him.
Thanks again.
