Need opinion on buying barton short throw shifter
Hey guys, just need your opinion on purchasing the Barton short throw shifter. Currently running the Barton two post bracket underneath and while it did help quite a bit in reducing the sloppiness I am wondering if the short shifter would tie it all together? The other question is do I have to get underneath the car and undo the bracket I already put on or can I simply pull of the center console and do the whole instal of the short shifter from the cabin of the car?
Thanks in advance!

I was actually doing this yesterday. Completely different parts though. I've got the steeda bracket and just picked up the SR shifter from the Pres Day sale. I thought I could just undo the bolts to the shifter and pop it in. Not the case. You still need to get under the car. You don't have to remove the bracket but you have to undo the bolts securing the bracket so you can move the shifter forward to remove one of the bolts. Its a pretty easy job since the bracket is already installed. Took me 30 minutes.

Seriously! No matter how long you have to save, buy the MGW Shifter, there is no comparison to any other brand of After market Shifters! Yes it costs more, but you definitely get what you pay for! The horizontal gate is adjustable, So one can get the engagement dead spot on and smooth as silk! When positive worry free shifting!

I would agree with everybody on the MGW sentiment. It's the definition of "doing it right the first time".
That said, adding a shifter at this point, whether it's Barton, SR, Steeda, etc may be the more cost effective. But it won't perform as well as the MGW. It just won't. Plus, with the new MGW race shifter being available, you may start to see the "old" 2014 version standard MGW's floating around the used market, which would make it a total no brainer.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I may be leaning towards an MGW now. Just out of curiosity how hard would it be to install an MGW given that I already have my Barton 2 post bracket in at the moment?

I'd say it would probably be the same, since you'll have to remove everything before putting in the MGW. About 3 hours is what we spent on it 3 years ago. I was more "car illiterate" back then lol. If you're good with tools etc, probably take you a couple hours at most.

I have installed {2}MGW Shifters, 1st Generation MGW Purchased June of 2013 & the most recent a MGW Race Spec Shifter the 1st week of Jan 2015. Both were installed in my garage with the car jacked up high on Jack Stands. Once the car was safely on the Jack Stands I'd estimate about 2 1/2 hours taking your time insuring that it is totally installed correctly! If you have any questions just send me a PM!

I'm pretty sure you already are since you are asking. I can just see you with a Jedi hooded jumpsuit made of microfiber towels and nitrite gloves on. The sign would read, "Don't judge us......or touch my car with your filthy, rough shifting hands." LMAO
I will jump to the other side of the fence from Barton to MGW if she makes it back to the states. I gotta see what the hype is about.

I did it and I've never really wrenched on a car. I think it took me 3-4 hours, and I went slowly to make sure I was doing it right. I watched a couple youtube videos on the installation process and they helped tremendously.
