need help deciding 2010 gt or 2011 V6 HELP!!
 
Ok guys and gals. So I just so happen to be checking stores in my area to see if they had a 2011 with specs I wanted just so I could grab one from the dealership after hearing soooo many issues about delays and random mileage and damage on peoples cars. So they didn't have any 2011 V6's with what I wanted but they did have a GT 2010. :feedback:

ok so what i wanted was a v6 grabber blue or yellow blaze with MCA or Pony Package, glass roof, and maybe da back up cam. so we are looking at bout 30,070 roughly

what they had was a 2010 GT grabber blue, glass roof, and it didnt seem to have a package but it did have the polished alum wheels that come with da pony package. this is 34,370. they are also giving 2500 cashback.I would prolly take the cash back because my bank would finance me for 6 years for 3% (:


Now what is known from the progression of the 2010 to the eleven..........what would you do or suggest I should do? How low would you expect or should the dealer be able to go with the price of the 2010?

Without knowing the specs of the '10 we can't tell you what you should be able to get away with paying. Some local dealers are advertising $7500 off '10 GTs. I almost bought a '10 Premium that booked at $34,500 for $25,250. Something to think about. You should be able to get $8-10k off that '10 if you stick to your guns. Tell them if they don't give you the numbers you want you'll go to another dealer to order an '11 V6.

I would go for the V6 unless they take $6K or $7K off the price of the 2010. Fuel economy and resale for the 2011 will be better. As good as the 2010s are, they did not get the motor upgrades to match the cosmetic upgrades. These will always be harder to sell in the future.

The V-8 guys are going to tell you to get a V-8 and the V-6 guys are going to tell you to get a V-6 LOL!!!

I wouldn't take a 1/2 off priced 2010 anything over a 2011 V-6 Mustang. Just my opinion.

I have one each....V8 mustang and bought 2011 V6. I just posted a similar thread on Friday on SVT Performance. I test drove a 2010 GT yesterday and I prefer to pay a bit more for my 2011 V6 equipped as I like. It may prove to be a smart decision in the winter months with the 2.73 gears. This will be my daily driver.

I drove a 2011 V6 and it seemed sluggish compared to a 2010 GT. Yes I know they are pretty close in terms of performance numbers, but the GT just felt better to me. Plus, you can't beat the GT exhaust.

i felt the same. it felt sluggish. i would buy a 10 gt over a v6. yes the numbers are close but it would be interesting to compare numbers that are not all out from a stop... say 20-80 numbers. i bet the difference would be a lot bigger imo.

the video of the 2010 gt racing the 2011 v6 showed the v6 catching as the speeds increased

I have also driven both.
I have owned a 2006 GT since new.
After I drove the 2011 V6, I bought a used V6 with the truck engine everybody rags on.
In day to day driving, the old V6 goes pretty good.
The new V6 is faster,but doesn't "feel" much faster in normal traffic.
The 2010 V8 sounds like a V8 and "feels" much stronger than the 2011 V6.

This. V6 is definitely a nice car, but nothing compares to the sound of a V8 imo. :heh:

I bought a 10 GT used and have zero regrets. I saved enough money on it to enable me to buy a Hyundai Accent for the winter. The V6 is nice but I could not buy one, even if the gas milage is better. I know when I hear a V8 mustang coming. Nothing else sounds as good imo.

Even the stock exhaust on a 10GT sounds great. Leaving my gated community a boy about six was walking along side the garages ogling at my car. As I passed I gave him a thumbs up and a couple quick revs and he grinned ear to ear. Love it.

2011 v6 was my vote but I'm a little biased
However I've driven an automatic 2010 gt premium with I believe 3.15 gears and automatic 2011 v6 2.73 gears back to back, gt did sound better to be honest*and by that louder/deeper/throatier* but perf wise they both felt very similar with the gt having a slight edge sotp feel in off the line torque that being said it is noticable driving both back to back the way the v8s nose feels when cornering and braking in comparison to the v6 which doesn't seem to want to dive as much and feels more balanced/lighter upon corner entry but i'm no expert;)
Like others have said there are the guys that believe a mustang should have a v8 and they will advise you accordingly, then there are those of us that have some what more of an open mind powertrain wise that will advise you to base your descision on what your goals are for it such as do you want a car that looks good, goes fast while getting excellent gas mileage*on find it everywhere 87 octane* slightly cheaper to insure without that v8 sound*don't forget maintenance on a v8 is more expensive long term* or do you want a car with an engine that makes sweet music*to those of you who prefer that v8 only mustangs need apply* won't get any dumba** shoulda got a v8 comments, gets worse gas mileage sucking on premium fuel*just wait till the next gas crisis and try to find premium then* has less technology engineered into it as far as aero/nvh suspension tuning braking*I say that because the 2011 v6 weighs less but yet has the same braking system as the 2010 gt making it stop better* 1 less gear in either transmission, that will cost more to insure depending on your age and more to maintain did I mention price wise unless you wrangle a deal its gonna cost more outright and again if you finance it more in finance charges?
In the end its your money and your car so its your decision, but **** isn't it nice either way to be talking about a 300+hp car that while in v6 trim can do all of the following get 30+mpg highway*proven by several members on here myself I've only managed 29.3 going uphill at 80 with A/C on or 48+mpg if your a ford driver* cost you less than 30K runs in the 13s quarter mile time, brakes from 60-0 in less than 105 feet and pulls over .90g on the skidpad all off the showroom floor and allowing you to smile and say nah its just a little v6 to all those prior year v8 guys whose car yours trumps in the above categories:)
