Need help, batt was dead today!!!

Got to carport to do my daily stuff, car wouldnt unlock! Thought batt in keyfob went out. Found spare set, still nothing. Then opened it & went to start it. Nothing! No click, lights, chimes, etc. I don't know about cars, so I headed to my mechanic's. If this went on with my 95, I'd feel more comfortable doing stuff. Not on my 11, though! Chose to let him do stuff. Guess he never got a chance to come by, so I did stuff. I have 1 of those posts cleaners, did think it might be corroded? Clean as ever, but still did it. Didn't do anything! Then brought dad's truck to jump it off. BTW, is there a way to get it trunk w/batt dead? I had to go through back seat!

On to car prob! I keep lights on auto @ night. As soon as I hooked up truck, HL's came on. That was a good sign. Then got in to start, fired right off like nothing ever wrong! I then went to mech's, hasn't there. I chose to ride around for lil bit on the hwy. Drove maybe 10 miles? Got back & he was there. He tested the batt/alt, tested fine.

Prob killed it 4 times? Fires right up every time. Why would it do this? Thanks!!

Oh yeah, I'm not the smartest now. I make a point to make sure I don't leave anything on every time! Forgot that part.

does it have the factory security in in?.. if the alarm goes of for what ever reason several times it could kill the battery.. but it would take about an hour of the horn and headlights going on and off to kill it..

He just hooked it up through the battery.

Not really sure if has security or not? There's just keyless entry, I think. I've tried to do stuff that was trigger alarm, won't go
off.
I keep window sticker in b'marks. I don't see that.

You should take it to the dealer have them check it out.

Got appt for Wed. Don't trust those guys. Cousin sells cars there. He'll stay back there. Took my 95 there long time ago to just get aligned. They put like 75 or more miles on it! Pissed me way off!! He's off tom.

My Dad's 2010 Taurus (1500 miles) did the same thing a few months ago. Dealer wanted to send a flat bed to ship to dealer, my Dad told them no. I checked his battery and it was around 8 volts. I removed it and put the battery on his charger. It showed 'full charge' in only ten minutes. I put the battery back in and it has worked perfect since then. The battery has been working perfect. I think it was just a 'fluke'

On my '05, this was a documented "feature" in the owner's manual. It said something to the effect of you have to drive the car for at least 1 hour at 2000 rpms (I think - it was about 65 mph) every 30 days or the battery will drain to "protect the computer". Exactly what you described happened to me a couple of times before I started visiting a friend 2 hours away every month or so. My 10 mile commute was not enough to keep the dang battery charged.

David, thanks. Forgot I took it up road to gas station last night. Started perfect/ran both times!! Maybe she just had a 'mood issue'. Some days I don't want to start!! Thanks!!

Just thought of something! Ive had my car since 10/4/10. I'm a huge creature of habit, now! Do basically the same trip every day. Why has this only happened just once?

Sorry, it takes grandpa a while for stuff to sink in!!!

It never made sense to me, either. :/ My battery didn't die every 30 days - it was probably more like 6 months, generally if my car sat for a couple of days without running. If I went on a long vacation, I had to leave the keys with the dogsitter and have them start it and let it run every couple of days or it would be dead when I got home.

I'll have my cars for life! I don't worry about miles on it, just try not to drive too much. I can't work, so I can keep mine to 1K a month! Since my wreck, I just chose not to drive my cars on Sunday. If I need to, I will! & go over 1K/mth.

Wouldn't if could even afford to go on vacations. I sit @ home, all day. I need 1 from what? Start & drive mine all but 1 day of week. Thanks!!

if you have to make sure you start your car every few days then you have a drain on it (the battery).. plain and simple... something in the car is draining it.. could be an amp, alarm or a rogue circuit..

I would agree that something isn't right. I had surgery and didn't start mine for almost three months. I have had no problems with the battery draining.

Been talking to that cous who works @ Ford. He asked top service guy. He said just treat it like this never happened. Your words says is best, David! Just a fluke thing.

Did I say he said don't bring it in? Says if will show a code on their comp, I'd have a light on my dash. Did when dead, not since! Started perfect just now!! Thanks again!!!
