For what it's worth, in my opinion, when the comparable variants of each mark are compared to each other, the Camaro and Mustang are so close in performance you could toss a blanket over them. So technically the Chief should say that the new SS 1LE will be faster than the GT PP. The problem is the stock SS already IS faster than the GT PP. So they have to aim higher.

The next Z28 is the contender against the GT350R.

The base SS is ~40k. The 1LE package will be another $6 or 7k. So if a $47k 1SS 1LE is in fact faster than a $55k GT350, that's a double win for Chevrolet. $63K 350R is not apples to apples with a $47k SS 1LE.

This pony war is great for everyone, I totally agree. I just hope Ford opens their eyes to the performance bargain benchmark these cars need to aim for.

The point is however, the Mustang, Camaro, Challenger and Charger do exist and you know as well as I do the Mustang has existed for over 50 years, that's reality.. So what are we really debating here anyhow ?

As I posted before, all those cars you mentioned are considered as European luxury sport coupes that are in a different class/category when compared with muscle/pony cars such as Mustang, Camaro, Challenger and Charger..
