mustang production delayed for 3 months???

Been working on putting a deal together...after 3 weeks, the salesman just told me that he cant sell me the mustang I want at xplan because there was a fire at the ford motor plant in germany and that production will be stopped for up to 3 months.

I think this is completely bogus and he just doesnt want to sell me the car...

Any help?

(edit) good point Lee lol
The dealer doesn't have to give you xplan pricing. Its up to the dealer weather he wants to sell it at that price or not.

What the hell would a plant in Germany have to do with a 3 month shut down of Mustang production?

The plant in Germany supplied the plastic resin to make the plastic pieces in our cars. I did not just effect the Mustang production only or Ford for that matter

Article from this morning:

"Ford Motor Co. does not expect the nylon 12 shortage to affect its production, thanks to the efforts at AIAG as well as individual suppliers, said spokesman Todd Nissen."

Can he not sell you the car? or not sell it to you at the xplan price? Honestly the xplan price isnt that special you should be able to get within 200 bucks of invoice without it on a GT or V6 so it sounds like he is trying to push you to pay a higher price.

What lover says. My dealer sold ours at invoice. Stick 'em, find another dealer that really wants to sell cars.

Hey bud, as someone in the business, they are yanking your chain. Go find another dealer who wants to sell a car. Too bad your not close to me. I'd be happy to sell you the car at X-Plan as we do ALOT of plan sales in my area!

Unless your up for a cool road trip from Southeast PA back to Michigan?!!

hahah! it sure would be a great way to get to know a new car The order I placed back in February is supposedly getting built 5/14 (FINALLY)...but if the dealer doesnt work with me on my trade any more than his super lowball offer, then no deal and I will be back on the hunt! Thanks for being on these forums, wish there were more dealers that cool!

Seriously. If the CFO releases a forward looking statement on production, and says there will not be an impact specifically because of x, y and z, during an quarterly earnings call to investors, it is reasonable to believe it.

Can you imagine the shareholder lawsuits and criminal fraud investigation that would result if Ford had any inkling of 3 months of no production?

I would not do business with that dealership solely based on the depth of BS flowing out of the showroom.

Correction, I might find the dealership owner and ask him about all this, if they had the car I wanted. He might want to sell cars, you never know.
