Keyless entry range....
 

Any of you guys experience a problem with your keyless entry not working at times?

Sometimes I have to be right at my car for it to unlock. Yesterday I was standing at the hood hitting the unlock button and it wasnt responding... this morning I was 25 feet away with another car in between me and the stang and it unlocked first try....

My old 05 escape never had this problem, I could be on the other end of a parking lot and it locked/unlocked everytime for 9 years no problem.

The 2010 GT I had a few years ago had this problem as well....

I know its a minor problem but it irks me at times. An Ideas? Some sort of interference?

Change your battery (maybe?). I can sit in my Bedroom, lock-unlock and start (factory remote start) my Mustang. 50-60 feet away with no problems :)

I had a 2011 mustang with no issues, but my new 2014 does this... sometimes it doesnt even respond at all and i have to manually unlock the door with the key. Then an hour later it will unlock on its first try from 40-50 feet away. Its weird.

I'm running in to this as well on my 2014 and I'm under 3000 miles.

Same here. 2014, 9300 miles. Started maybe 2000 miles ago. Randomly wouldn't read my button presses. I think it could be the battery or the actual buttons themselves. I haven't tried my spare key.

No issues here at 8600 miles. Works first time every time from 50-75 feet out. I'd try replacing the batteries in the fobs before bothering bringing it to the dealer since that's all they'd do anyway to start with.

It's the remote battery. Same symptoms as you guys. My trunk release stopped entirely and the doors took like 5 clicks to open. I replaced my battery this week actually and the remote works better than before! (12 GT)

Just pop a new battery in. No reprogramming or key click steps needed. It's that easy.

How do you change the battery? I have not had to do this before.


Also... This car is brand new.. are they putting in weak batteries at the factory?

They wear out quickly when you push the buttons more than you need to in daily use.

Take the key off the ring, use a coin to separate the key fob halves (look for the groove), there's a rubber gasket once opened up - pull that up and insert new battery. Reverse steps.

My car is pretty new also. Some batteries last longer according to use and climate.

The battery is 5 bucks for 2 at Kroger. It works awesome with the new battery. Almost too good!

Lol, I may or may not be guilty of unlocking and locking 4-5 times every time I'm out with the car, just to see the tails and my Diode Dyanmics LED bulbs light up :rofl:

lol me too. for some reason i always hit lock twice to hear the horn even if im close to the car and heard the locks lock.

but yeah when walking up to the car from behind ill hit the unlock button probably five times lol

That too, but in my Ford experience, the double lock until the horn actually activates the passive alarm. If you only lock once, it's not active. That's how all our old Fords have been, so I just assume the current ones are like that too...

So without the Security package which has the reverse sensors and active alarm (with motion sensors), if you double tap the Lock, and someone busts a window - the alarm won't sound. But if they open the door, it *will* sound.

With the active alarm, the alarm will sound if they bust the window...

My remote has great range 75+ feet in an open parking lot, and I've used the same remote and battery since I picked up my car in April 2013.
