How much effect does Traction Control and Advance Track have on launch off the line?
Does it reduce power and increase time? Reason I ask is a guy I know has a 2011 Nissan Altima Coupe with the 3.5 and he has done some mods, CAI, exhaust and that's about it. But there is a section of dead end road by my parents and we went out there the other day for a couple runs from a stop and he was hanging right with me.
I forgot I had TC and AT on and the first run I redlined it a 1st and second and that obviously had an effect. But the next couple runs were clean launches and I thought I would have been pulling away from him.
We both let up at about 110mph and he was still right there if not maybe just half a car length behind me.
And yes I know street racing = bad. But this is pretty much a private road that dead ends into a cornfield and we drove the road first to see if anyone was out there.
Thanks,
griff

Please tell me you have the V6 Mustang!
I kind of wondered how the Altima coupe would do by comparison, thanks! I like how they look, just don't like that it's FWD.
Yes, the TC will KILL your power if you get a lot of wheel spin. We had about an inch of snow on the ground the other day, so I took the Mustang out to "test" the new snow tires... The TC felt like an anchor being thrown out the back when I tried to break it loose! Sport Mode wasn't a whole lot better, either. This can result in massive understeer, by the way, on a snow-covered surface.
Turned OFF the TC, and it felt like the good ol' RWD cars I learned on back in the 70's!

No, it's a 2011 5.0 and that is what is so embarrasing. I am not Mario Andretti but I didn't think I sucked that much with the MT. I am shifting at around 6800-7200 then my foot is to the floor.
That is why I wondered if the training wheel setting had that much of an impact

They can be good for high 13s or better on a good day, and I've seen plenty of 5.0s stuck in the 14s with a bad driver... so anything is possible.

Hell, I was surprised myself when my friend's bone stock 2010 Maxima went 13.93 @ 100 MPH... 290-hp and 3,600 lbs.

I wouldn't laugh man....the VQ35 is a hell of an engine.... there are plenty of maxima's and altimas in the 13's with just bolt ons.....with turbos and super chargers they are 11/12 second cars....
thats one community of cars that really loves modding
I use to have a maxima, trust me they are a crazy bunch
