Without spending a fortune?

I have 18" wheels so no tower strut brace. Will that make a huge difference? N. Virginia roads are terrible so not too keen to lower the car..

I love driving my girlfriend's 2007 Type S Acura because the car's steering feels so precise and the ride isn't nearly as big/floaty.

A "fortune" is relative...Strut bar will not help the floatiness.

Your best bet is a moderate springs/strut combo like the Ford Racing 1" drop kit M-FR3-MGTA

That 1" drop handling pack looks AWESOME. Will it make a big difference?

It will. Not as optimal as some of the more aggressive packages out there, but a compromise between better handling and "safety" against bad roads. Sam Strano might be able to put something comparable cheaper maybe.

I guess since it's Ford Racing it won't void my warranty if I get it installed at the dealer.

Although the labor rates are going to terrify me.

Shouldn't void your warranty regardless, these are replacement parts (like if you got some cheap a$$ Gabriel shocks at AutoZone) and Ford sells versions of the same springs.

You can install them yourself as well, just need a jack (can even use the one in the trunk, maybe) and some tools from the local parts store (spring compressors).

Most stupid mechanic shops are open only M-F from 8-5. I don't get home till 7PM.

That's why I found a mobile mechanic on Craigslist to install my axlebacks and he did it at half the cost.

I'm REALLY interested in that 1" handling pack, but I have no idea where to get it installed and I'm concerned about the warranty.

I mean, warranty on that is kind of crap anyway. They're wear and tear items. They can't tell you, oh because your 8th cylinder blew out, it's because of your shocks/struts. Stupid. Steeda gives you lifetime warranty on their parts, so you should be fine.

And the handling pack is close to $1200 bucks, I also heard it's crap.

Ford obviously isn't going to warranty non-Ford shocks but they aren't going to refuse to fix your radio, transmission, or headlights under warranty just because you replaced the springs and/or shocks and struts.

He's right, the springs/bars are fine, the FRPP shocks aren't great.
Go for the Koni STRs, and pick and choose your bars etc. Strano's got great prices and he can advise you on all of it if you give him a call.

You really can do these things yourself if you have a garage and a floor jack, and some regular wrenches. Takes time but saves money, and you know it's done right. Probably the install cost from a dealer or shop would be the same as buying your own tools, then you can do more work down the road yourself.

The instructions on this site are great, too, and will walk you through all of it.

What kind of Mustang are you driving?

I've got an '08 and I'm pretty happy with the '10 OEM Track Pack I retrofitted onto mine. If you're driving an '11, though, I think you already have the 2010 Track Pack as your stock suspension. If you don't, though, I'd recommend getting the shocks/struts and other stuff.

I don't know what you mean by "floaty". I like to feel a little bit of a cushion between myself and the road. If that's floaty, then I don't think my setup can help you because my car seems to soak up bumps pretty well. Frankly, if the road is one bump and expansion joint after another, driving on a slammed setup gets real old, real quick.

Where did you hear this? I've heard Strano complain he doesn't like it, but other than that I've not seen much bad about it.

I know one of the regulars here has the whole setup. I can't remember the name but I remember him saying that he wasn't too thrilled and that he will change the shocks if my memory serves me right.

I've never had any experience with the FRPP Handling Pack, but it's the same setup as the 07-08 Shelby GT. From what I've heard, the springs are good, the swaybars are fine, but the shocks/struts have some issues and tend to make the ride very harsh. Apparently the entire pack is manufactured by Eibach and later stamped with the FRPP logo.
