This is my problem... I got a preliminary estimate without removing the bumper from a insurance estimator. She was talking about plastic repair (i.e. epoxy or some **** like that) I am trying to find a good ford body shop to give me a real estimate, but I am fuming about doing a cosmetic repair like this. I am seriously considering buying a new rear oem bumper myself and having it painted, but I am worried about paint matching issues. The vehicle is 8000 miles new and garage kept, so I don't expect any sun fade, but I am just flat out scarred!!!
Any opinions on epoxy like repair, (sand, fill, sand, paint) stuff
VS
body panel replacement and paint???

10 years ago my Taurus was bumped in the azz and the dude’s license plate left a couple deep dings in the bumper cover. The shop did an excellent job repairing the cover. It looked like new when they finished it and still does today. Cost was around $500 for the job. If the cover is to be replaced, be sure it’s a new factory OEM replacement part. There are a lot of remanufactured “new” parts out there from sources that are NFG. Insurance companies will use every trick in the book to cut costs…most people won’t know/see the difference until it’s too late.

ok its official now... That wonderful jack-hole that hit me had no insurance based on documents in vehicle. Now I have to wait for the police report to see if they ID'd him and if he might by some random shot have insurance. There goes my bid for diminished value because you usually cant claim that on a first party insurance claim.
Looking at the glass half full, this pops my seal on modifying this mustang. For almost a year I have babied this car and only did a gt 500 axle back job. Now that its been assaulted its time to make it better.
So first question since I have to come out of pocket myself. What kinda of rear?
Repair it with epoxy?
replace and repaint it?
add gt 500, boss rear lower portions?

Anyone know the difference in rear bumpers with "boss appearance package" vs gt500 rear bumpers?

If you have a police report that says someone else hit the bumper it should be covered by your insurance under the uninsured motorist part of the insurance. Don't let them try and just repair it b/c that is total b.s. It needs a new bumper and properly paint matched by a body shop. Any decent body shop will be able to make it just like it was.

I like the GT500 more but only with the GT/CS or GT500 spoiler. If you are going to keep the stock spoiler I would go with the Boss 302/CS one. Looks better with these combos IMO. Also you have to keep in mind that you have less axle-back options with the GT500 diffuser.

I do like the quads, but I have already got single tip gt500's now. They did not appear to be damaged from the hit, but the driver side one was pushed a little to the right. can the single tip gt500 axle backs fit under the gt500 valance?

That would look real awkward. You would have 1 tip where there should be two, lol. Just get the Boss 302 one.

Ok some new info I have came across for future reference.
DR3Z17F828AA is a OEM Ford boss 302/ appearance package rear valance and
DR3Z17F828BA is a Ford/Motorcraft after market part, looks the same, but im sure there is some diference.
But the price difference is $334.90 vs $150.
