Halos?

Or just a trick of the light? (pun intended :D)

wat .

stangfoeva Mar 25, 2010 03:51 PM

I've been thinking that same thing since the '10s debut! In certain pics it looks just like it has halos

eci Mar 25, 2010 03:52 PM

wtf are you guys talking about?

In some pictures, it looks like there's a halo around the main headlights.. like the kind you can purchase aftermarket or that are seen in some BMW's. Rings of light surrounding the headlights that stay lit even when the headlights are off.

I think it's just an optical illusion in the mustangs... the light doesn't look uniform enough to be coming from an actual glowing ring.

Trick of the light. The halos they are referring to is a light ring around the outside of the headlight bulb. BMW does it on their cars. The halogens do NOT have halo's.

Yeah, sorry Eci, as the others have already explained, it's a ring around the headlight. They are also referred to as angel eyes. BMW first introduced them on the E39. You can also find them on certain trim levels on the Camaro, too (HIDs, I think)

I think they add a certain agressiveness to the front end, as they really do look like evil eyes :)

Apologies to those with them, but I don't like the design of the current HIDs, mainly as it loses the defintion of the round headlamp. For me that forms part of the cars face.

Note to Ford - please can you make halos an official accessory?

Aren't they optional on all the Mustangs now? As in you have to add them on purpose?

Well, you can buy aftermarket halos for the 05-09, but halos don't come from Ford in any shape or form.

HIDs are optional, although they are now standard on the 2011 GT500 :)

Even the HIDs don't have halos though!

yes on the Camaro the halos are part of the HID headlights, and they most definitely add to the evil look of the Camaro's toothy grin

I also agree the HID's don't look right on the Mustang GT . . . they look like little dark holes, especially right next to the driving lights . . . but I think they might look OK on the 2011 V6 with the billitt grill, since the driving lights won't be there right next to them

I bought them for the Mrs Mustang but havent installed them yet. Also got a set of fogs with them.
Allot of guys scream rice but to me if it looks good then why not? ...and to me it looks pretty good.

On the V6 the HIDs reduce the walleye look of the standard headlamps.

vs.

The first car looks like it could see around corners while the second looks like it's looking straight ahead. Albeit with hollow eyes. I'm torn.

I like the look of it on the silver car with the MCA billett grill . . . looks kind of sinister (sp?) and works with the color scheme . . . . that might be the exact setup I go with

Sorry... misunderstood. :(

ok well i went out side and checked out my car tonight, it looks like they put a reflective ring on the outside edge of the headlight so at certain angles it definitely gives the look of halos.

Flagstang Mar 26, 2010 10:58 PM

my 2009 has the same thing.
