Got pulled over for the first time since I bought the 5.0 in Nov 10' :(
I was in an inside turn lane and left the light somewhat quick, the exhaust was making that good ole rumble I love, but nothing insane. As I got around the corner and was coming up to the next light which is maybe 200 yards from the turn, I look back and there is a city cop behind me
He must have been behind me at the turn light the whole time and I never saw him. Well I slow down and stop at next light and as soon as it turns green, he lights up the gumballs
I pull over and wonder how fast I was going as I wasn't even looking and the speed limit was 45 MPH. He walks up to the car and asks "Any reason you got up to speed so quickly?", I said no reason was just driving normally. He said "You had no idea I was back there did you?", "No sir I did not " He then goes through the whole spiel and asks me how fast I thought I was going, I told him I had no clue and guessed 50, "No sir you were doing 65" /facepalm. Then I knew I was goosed, 20 over here is an easy $300 fine not including court costs.
He goes back to his car and is back there for about 8 minutes and I see him walk up and when he gets to my window he hands me my license and says "I am just going to give you a warning, but SLOW DOWN" HOLY CRAP!!! I told him I would hug him if I could.
God I dodged that bullet and going to keep my foot out of it and pay attention more!

Everyone has accidents in speeding. Maybe the officer realized that in your tone. #1 reason why I have the detector that I do to keep me honest. Drives me insane when I see speeders in the school zone that I drive through everyday

Definately dodged a bullet there, its always best when a cop pulls up to treat them with respect and not to give them a cocky atittude. Call them sir and always apologize.

A few years ago I got nailed. The speed limit on a bridge over where I live was 45 (btw nobody does 45, if you do you'll get ran the heck over) I was doing 80.
Got pulled over by a state trooper, thought I was going to get the chair... Luckily he came back to my window and gave me a warning. Too bad my seat didn't get a warning that I was going to **** my shorts...

^ this. Love mine. I still hardly speed, but just want it for peace of mind.

All you guys talking about your detectors realize that it would not have been the slightest help in this instance? The OP was stopped by an LEO who paced him from behind - no radar involved.
I too have a good detector despite the fact that I never go more than 9mph over and seldom that much. It's just a great reminder to keep an eye on my speed. Haven't had a ticket in almost 40 years.

Yeah, but I wonder. With the officer in such close proximity, if he had his radar in standby, would the detector alert you to his presence, and make you look around more?
