Fuel door

finally a smooth door without finger pull

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog....trolive_26.jpg

I wonder how adaptable it is to an '05 - '09

StangMahn Nov 27, 2008 09:24 PM

not sure, with that kink in the door, may or may not line up right, and that's the door for not having a gas cap, so it's probably a little different, never really been sure how that system worked

2k7gtcs Nov 27, 2008 09:34 PM

Well you'd have to have the fuel door button inside to get it open. But this is a much needed improvement.

RCSignals Nov 27, 2008 09:48 PM

yes that body line is definitely harder, although on the quarter panel it doesn't appear as sharp as on the door.

Will just have to see one in person

Apparently you just push the fuel door and it clicks open.
No release button inside the car.

so you have a push activated fuel door with a capless fuel tank hose, not feeling to safe about that one especially when the fuel thieves start getting their gas out of a new stang. there has to be some type of safety to this system.

Its not so much taking stuff out, but putting in.

Newer cars have a grating/screen that stops a syphon hose from getting to the tank.

The new capless fuel filler system creates a seal on the cap, so its not like you can pour anything in... unless its a fuel hose, or the accompanied funnel.

It's actually more secure than the current car.
If you REALLY want to feel safe, you can get a locking fueless filler capflap.

.

How do you figure that? There's nothing secure about it.

Nothing secure about the current car.

Never said there was. Didn't even imply that.

Knight Nov 28, 2008 10:28 AM

cause you were implying it was not more secure then the non secure 05-09:dunno:

but this one is more secure since it has a button inside car to open.

I can't believe how many people on this forum have trouble with reading comprehension.

1 - I never compared it to the '05 - '09 car. Boomer stated that the 2010 was MORE secure than the '05 - '09 cars. Since each one seems to be EQUALLY INSECURE, I asked him how he figures that the 2010 is MORE secure. It sure doesn't seem any more secure to me.

2 - According to Boomer (who claims to be "in the know" (maybe he's a Team TMS member?)), there is no button to open the fuel filler door on the 2010.

How does he say you open it?

Are you reading this thread? Scroll up and you'll see that he says you just push in on the door and it pops open. He says there's no button inside the car to open it!!

Never said that you said there was, didn't say you implied it either. I just made a statement that the '05-'09 wasn't secure.

Oh no thats horrible. I don't want to put my fingers or anything else on a car that isn't perfectly clean. going to scratch the paint from the dirt.

Maybe you should have read the line above the one you quoted:

I don't know what your deal is but it seems like you like to start problems in every thread.

zzcoop Nov 28, 2008 11:32 AM

You dare question his reading comprehension?

Anthony k Nov 28, 2008 11:40 AM

i just saw a dark blue 10 GT at home depot. i pushed on the gas door and it opened. had a hood scoop on the power bulge hood too. looked pretty good. had the NAV in it too.

Boomer Nov 28, 2008 12:23 PM

The new capless fuel filler system creates a seal on the cap, so its not like you can pour anything in... unless its a fuel hose, or the accompanied funnel.
Therefore it is more secure than the current system in which you can open the seal (gas cap) with your hand and dump anything down the pipe.
You can't just use your fingers to open the gas entry point, you have to use the supplied funnel or gas filler at the station.

I don't see how this is hard to understand.

I guess I could stilll just go up to your car with my funnel and pee in it....
