Found my first nicks and scratches: Heart-ache. What do I do?

With all the god **** construction going on in Northern Virginia, there's gravel anywhere.

I took a look at the front of my car and I found two nicks and scratches. One scratch was where it looked like a rock grazed, and the nick looks like where it hit dead on. It's probably a millimeter or two deep. I can see some black under the red.

What should I do? Is that deep enough to rust?

This is why I hate having a car. I'm obsessive.

S#!t IS going to happen if you drive it at all. Either come to grips with that and take what ever precautions you can, or park it and just go out and look at it from time to time.

Fix the chips, then have a 3M Clear Bra installed on the car. I think the price is worth it if there is a lot of construction going on.

I just drove to Arlington last night, and 495 is a hot mess. I feel your pain.

I have a clear bra on my TL (installed by dealer before I was even interested in it) and it's just "okay." I don't like how dirt accumulates at the border so you can tell there is a overlay on the paint. I probably wouldn't do it again.

Chips are part of life. Touch them up properly and keep driving

Someone had put him on a little crooked and I pushed on it to try and straighten it.

3M Scotchgard for the win. $740 installed. 24" of front hood, front bumper, part of front fender, side mirrors

I already saw some slight marks on the clear film that saved my paint. Came right out with quick detail spray. but I can see where it impacted.

Let it go. . . wait until some asshat decides to bump his shopping car into it or the kids in the minivan that parks next to you get out and put their paws all over it . . . there's no end to the crap that CAN happen.

Now, I'm taking my truck up to the beltway because it's hell out there and Mustang doesn't deserve that.

I was quoted for the installation of a clear 3M protective film for both the front bumper and a 12" section of the hood and side of fenders. Cost is $500, what is the down side of having it install ? Will it change the color of the paint overtime ? What about wax on this film !
