First Roady and Millage

I just got back from my first roady and have a couple of thoughts and observations.

I drove around 1000 miles round trip with half on two lane highways and the other half on the interstate from NW Wyoming to NE Colorado so there were lots of hills and such. I averaged about 73 on the highway and 83 on the interstate. I also had about 150 miles of heavy traffic in Colorado. For the trip I averaged 25.6. I find it funny with the mods I have done I am still at the EPA average. I was able to make it 390 miles on one tank and I will take that all day long. My high was 27.3 and my low was about 24.

How were the regular seats on the trip? I love the Recaros on long trips. It feels like I just got in when I get out, even after a couple of hours. That's a great part of the country. I like going through Utah and then over to the Grand Canyon.

Not bad on mileage! I calculated mine for the first time this past weekend, was 21.5 with a mix of highway and back roads with a bunch of WOT. How many miles are on your car? I expect my mileage will increase a bit as I get some more miles on... Only at 600 here at the moment.

I just am about to pass 3000. The only WOT I would have was when I was passing cars on the highway, drop to 5th usually sometimes 4th if I needed a power pass ;)

We just got back from a 9 day road trip a week ago. We covered 2,000 miles, with much more of it on two lane highways and back roads than on freeway. There were some hills, but a lot more was twisty two lane roads. It was a Honda S2000 trip, so I got to chase them on the twisty bits and Maria did very well indeed. We averaged 26.4 MPG for the entire trip with a high of 29.5 and a low of 21.8. I used SelectShift quite a bit, leaving it in second along a lot of the tighter twisty roads. The car now has 5,000 miles on the clock. We have stock seats and they were very comfortable and provided ample support during more spirited driving. I was REALLY impressed with the cars handling and the way I could hang right with the S2000s. I definitely love this car and have no regrets at selling my S2000 to make room in the garage for Maria.

Awesome, guys! Thanks for sharing, and I hope you had fun on those trips!

Just went from DC to Wisconsin and back, round trip was around 1800 miles or so, best gas mileage I could muster was 23.6MPG. Speeds probably upper 70's for most of the trip. Even had a "gas mileage in mind" 87 octane tune in it.

Car after the trip has cleared 15,000 miles. Disappointed with the gas mileage of this car from day one.

Can't have your cake and eat it to. A GT is never gonna get good gas mileage. Not like anyone gets it to get good gas milage :)

Buy a Prius.

dmichaels 6/25/13 05:51 AM

I am a bit surprised the mileage isn't better considering what some of the newer trucks and SUVs are pulling off for mileage, but I definitely did not buy this car expecting great mileage. Gotta pay to play :)

I was pleased with the 26 I got, and will take that out of a V8 everyday of the week.
