Here's another "According to a guy that works at... ." quote: the Camaro won't be out till November 2008 (4 years after the Mustang reinvented desire in the pony car market) and the next Challenger will go for about $40K. Seems Chrysler will give up the V6 market to Ford and GM. When GM b****es about products and time to market - they have no one to blame but the bean counters. Ture car guys would have had had something ready by now.

I disagree with having the Next Stang at the same show as the Bullit. While the Bullit isn't the flashiest 'Stang, the last thing you want is to drown its coverage. Besides, the F-150, NA Verve, and possibly some Euro imports are probably going to be there already, so the "New Stuff" stand will have meat already. Keep the Next 'Stang for another Show (Chicago, New York, etc)

Yeah, don't think it would be detroit.
Detroit would be the new stang
I agree it would be great to steel the thunder..and it is a risk....
but... if the Camaro concept and production are SO close... (with the minor changes to it for production) I think the stang would make a greater impact, as we've already seen the camaro 2 years ago!!!

i just read from GuionM over at z28 forums about the autoshow season.
Looks like the F150, MKS, Mustang variant (boss probably) and maybe a slightly revised Fusion and some other stuff.
GM will NOT have the production Camaro there..so YET again... there will be a concept (probably SS or Z28) of the car.
that is unbelievable...to have 3 autoshow seasons of CONCEPT variants before even showing with that production car in its final form.
I can understand telling people its coming back..but 3 years will make it long in the tooth before it even hits the lots!

Right now Ford has no reason in the world to show us the next generation Mustang concept. Showing it too early would both hurt Mustang sales today and leave Ford without a means to lessen the impact of the production Camaro & Challenger.
The time to show the next generation Mustang concept is when the production Camaro hits the dealer showrooms.

And the reason why GM threw out the Camaro concept so early was to try to get customers to not buy a S197 Mustang and wait for the Camaro. It's a common marketing technique that many companies try to use against a competitor that has a leg up on them.
