cobra jet intake?

Sup guys, so I've been looking up the the CJ intake manifold and it seems people have been getting ridiculous gains from it. I just find it kinda odd that the coyote's can gain an extra 50+whp with the help from the CJ intake. There's a youtube vid some guy who's pushing 450+whp at 7750rpm's with the CJ intake, axle backs, O/R Xpipe and a tune. And I found another vid of a guy putting down 472/405 to the wheels (granted it has jpc regrinds) with axle-backs and 3 inch Hpipe. These cars are making ridiculous gains without headers. Could someone shed some light on this please?

What light do you need shed? I've seen the same, and plan on doing the combo if I don't ever do a supercharger (though I could add a Procharger too hah). With LTs people are easily making 475+ whp. I probably will never do LTs since I live in commiefornia, but the thought has been crossing my mind. 550hp N/A V8 that revs to 7500rpm...sounds like a good amount of fun to me, making just as much power as the first GT500!

The CJ with some massaging and a good tune is a beast. I did headers, exhaust cams, intake and tune all at once. Car will flat out roast the tires from a 30 roll all day long. It pulls to 7800 like a train and doesn't fall on its face either. But, I will say only doing the intake is a waste of money. You really need to look at the whole picture to get the most gains for the buck. You need to open the exhaust side to really get the benefit of the CJ. There are some good threads about the CJ on SVTPerfomance in the 2011 GT section.

This. May as well do injectors too, the FRPP TB and FRPP CAI.

Did you do anything to the valve train while you were in there? And AED did your tune via email and data logging?

I did the Boss valve springs and MMR Billet Oil Pump Gears as well. I am running the Mono Blade TB with FRPP CAI. AED did remote tuning with data logging. Took three revisions to nail it down.

Sounds good. I'm semi local to them, so I'd just do a dyno revision with them. They did my current tune with my HF cats and exhaust too. My car was a little low, from what they've seen, but I still picked up 33 peak hp and around 40 ft/lb...way more under the curve.

Yea Shaun helped me with a "bad" Throttle Body I got off of SVTPerformance. Turned out the seller worked for a national speed shop and was flipping returns...

Wow so it's not unusual to see these type of gains from the CJ intake. Perhaps i should scratch the idea of getting a CAI and save the money to get the CJ intake

The Cobra Jet Intake, much like the Boss Intake, requires the correct supporting mods to be effective. In the case of the CJ Intake it really needs cams to be effective.
